I will close the topic if i find just 1 or more post regarding the situation. This has gone too far.
You 2 have started a personal war and are taking it to every thread you have chance to fight. Now, you should solve this situation privately, not all arround the forum.

Ok, I agree with Korrd, stop the flame... enough, it really becomes dull. As for Nightfall, he does tend to say weird things sometimes but I also don't understand what's wrong between Wolf and him. I also wonder why Dab started all this mess in this thread... I don't know about others, but I usually read all suggestions concerning new mod features. If you are being criticised by someone, it doesn't mean that you won't be heard.
Getting back to topic. There are equipment levels, so I cannot do something like
BS - BS Shileld
- CR Shield and lower
CR - BS Shield
- CR Shield and lower
GB - CR Shield
- GB Shield and lower
What level should Cruiser Shield be then? If it's 9, it's equippable on gunboats, transports etc. If it's 10, it's not equippable on gunboats or anything below. You can't make it level 9,5 or something.
I actually agree with Dab about liners, though most people seem to favor an opposite point of view. I guess the conclusion will come while testing the new version.

A cruiser shield SHOULD NOT be mountable on a Gunboat.
Cruiser/BS shield class 10, GB and freighter shields class 9 and below.

I agree with Jamez. A GB with BS shields is unstoppable. Wolf and I onc eengaged against a GB with bs shields. We were unable to lower its shieds as the sields were too strong, and regenerated too fast.

I was thinking, since cap-ships won't be using fighter shields a shield mount of lvl 2 would not be a problem. So BS - lvl 10 class, CR - lvl 9, GB - lvl 8, liners - lvl 8 or 9, transports - lvl 7. That was you couldn't have ships with the other shield equiped.

I like Dab's idea as it would create a better balance than my idea but some people obviously cannot realise this.
People stop thinking about your ships and think of the mod.

Well thinking this idea came easily to me. I've never used a BS shield on anything other than a BS, CR shield on anything other than a CR etc etc. I did that because I realised that its called a BS shield for the reason it should only be used on a BS. I see FL as a game that focuses on skill. The SP campaigns last few missions show this as you are vastly outgunned and the enemy has better ships. If we don't balance everything we can it no longer becomes a game focused on skill, but focused on which ship is more overpowered. I never even complaigned when ships I had were downgraded to a balanced level because I knew the mod was more important than me winning. The only things I even complaigned about that was fixed was the Blood Dragon and thats because its agility is in between that of a bomber and a VHF... Still.

You mean leveled freighter shields?
Good idea. As fighters cant mount fr shields.
It will require a lot of work, i think, to rebelance all the fr shields in the mod.
