It?s unfair when people purposely lag, like unplugging the ethernet cable and then putting it back in quick to have your ship jump in space yet they hit everything...
But unfortunatly I don?t think there?s much we can do about that. Maybe a really high ping limit, but I?m not sure.

Thought you meant something else with that, when they just randomly blow up after a lag spike when nothing is about ( happened to me once, its annoying)

Intentionnal Lagging is bad.
Unintentionnal sucks, but only the ISP is to be blamed
Ohh and btw, the guys you fought aren't newb... They are quite well skilled, don't be suprised if you can't hit them, even when they don't lag.
In short, live with it buddy and welcome on the world of Internet and crappy ISP

I'm stuck with dialup for the summer, since theres nothing faster out here.. but come September I'm back on T3 commercial internet. =)
