And at the same time, that is one less future ''lol'' for you not to look at.

No.
Sanction reports are only meant to deal with malicious rule breaking.

I would assume that most rules are broken without knowledge and can be dealt with better by explaining the mistake and educating the player to avoid it next time.

I'm more bothered when "experienced RP-er" behaves like angry teen inRP rather then hearing lol. But apparently we don't sanction people RP-ing kids in space.

A lot of votes for an alternative though I'm uncertain if that means we should try to advise over reporting or if it's something like a whitelist/mandatory forum signup to force people to read the rules.

This is my view on it, too.

I've only filed one report in my time here, and that was when I saw the same rule broken again by a certain person literally within two days of the first violation, and I knew for a fact that he'd been lectured on the rule in question on the first occasion.

Everyone - unless they are outright obnoxious and unrepentant - deserves an educational explanation first, in my book, before people start throwing out violation reports without even trying to talk things over.

This mostly just applies for new players and those otherwise ignorant of the rules, though. Anyone who could/would know better and/or seems to be wilfully flouting rules deserves a slap straight off.

I have submitted about 2 reports since I started playing - I have had at least 50 chances where I could have reported players. The cases where I didn't report I spoke to the player and they didn't know as they were newish. To give an example on one occasion while near Rochester base I saw a pilot with 2 ID's on his ship. I contacted him in pm and told him that it was against the rules to have more than 1 ID per character. He replied in bad English that he dient understand so I made my English simpler to explain. He got it and sorted it out I then explained about different charas having different IDs without problems. Since then there has been as far as I am aware no problems with that person.

Earlier i posted that if had proof a report should be filed, but the author above sounds more wise to me, i believe malicious rule breaking is what ususally pisses people off and ruins the moment.

If I see someone breaking a rule in such a way that he does not profit from it, I try to make them aware of the rules. Generally it is quite an effort to report people and I'm lazy. So just making someone aware and if I get the feeling that he is listening and trying to do better, I'll let it slide - usually.

I've once had a guy shooting me in a pulse-only setup without RP. Sure, he got my shield quickly but coudn't make a dent in my hull. Clearly a newb. I talked to him and he was like "but you're red!" and then I continued to explain him what an RP-server is and what the two letter actually mean.

But If I catch a FreelancerIDd Powertrading in a 5k or a Zoner docking a 5k in House space and get a "you have to be sneaky" as answer, I do take my time to report him.

My reaction depends on the scope and circumstances of the violation. If it's something minor - for example, a mismatched loadout in the pre-technerf days - I'll fire off a PM and continue based on their reaction. Often, it was a freelancer just using what he picked up because that's what they did in single-player. Anything more disruptive, I will report.

But I've only filed two or three reports in my entire time here. Apparently I'm just playing at the wrong, or right, time, because I don't see most of these violations that people talk about.

For minor violations I think a message from a player will help more than an admin warning, because the latter makes the server look more hostile to new players.

That way, they can kick/ban people, even if the ban only max for 1 hour and they can report the case to the A.D.M.I.N.S.

Dude, if you have still have a problem with us, say it. Quit trolling threads while bringing us up, it's gotten old and trivial. Hell, we got a feedback thread up or go find my old thread to say something about us if you have a problem with what we do now. But you probably won't, because you still believe the Judge jokes are funny. Big laugh all around. Grow the **** up and say something to one of us directly instead of using our name to troll other threads.
