If I remember well you can only have one type of guns mounted
My current ship is about 5k rank. A bit more tbh, but I prefer spending time in FL in my free time.
One thing you should know: Flyers will be a nightmare unless you've got a sniper in team. Really, one sniper is a must.

Update released just few days ago actually allows multiple weapon types on ship. Fliers are not that big of a deal these days due to Flak cannons.
