Users who registered for the site before the game was announced on October 10, 2012 have a Golden Ticket on their account which indicates they were the very earliest members of the community. The Golden Ticket was an invite to the launch event on October 10th. It also entitles the holder to a special decal on their ship if they subsequently backed Star Citizen by pledging for one of the spaceship tiers as well an un-announced small in-game item. A Golden Ticket holder has no additional privileges or game status outside of being able to say they were some of the earliest members of the community.

Anyways, I thought about actually buying a ship package. If they just weren't that insanely expensive! 140+ USD for a computer game? Why that much? Will those ships be that hard to acquire ingame or what? Or is it just simple moneymaking.

I'd love to have a Freelancer package, but I can't somewhat agree with that high price. Were those prices that high since the beginning (when you even received those op lifetime insurances) or might they get cheaper like at the end of this year?

I know that it's about pledging/backing. But they've already made that insane amount of cash already, so why still that expensive?

Will there be more new ships (packages) coming soon?

Right now I favor the Freelancer MAX.

RE: Star Citizen - 49rTbird - 08-22-2014

I bought the Aurora package (with upgrade) and the Freelancer package (with upgrade) not only to have them but to help this game be the best possible. It IS a lot of money for a game but as the name implies we are "BACKERS" not just players. Look at kick start for more examples of this idea. The ships will be available in game for funds earned in game just as in Freelancer. This is the first time I have done this and as far as prices go I think another unfinished game is going for $150. Hope to see some of you out there. Smile

I look at it this way: When the game releases, like any new PC game, it will probably cost $59.99 and will come with nothing but a basic starter ship (if that, you may have to start out as a crewman, no idea yet).

Right now, if you buy any of the basic starter packages, it's like 40-45$, and you're getting the game plus that starter ship and some other goodies on the website. I could see spending -up to- 100$ if the ship you're reserving is really fancy in some way, but no more.

I, too, love the look of the Freelancer ship model, but it's too expensive to justify buying into right now. They've also already said that the constellation will only take something like 20 hours of gameplay to acquire in-game (at least I think that's the number I remember seeing), so it's reasonable to assume that you could get any of those high price ships with enough gameplay dedication.

Some people already try to make a Freelancer mod for it

Huh, I didn't know about that decal/item.

Also, consider that the money you're pledging goes towards the development of the game in general; the cost of pledge packages is not supposed to be equivalent to the value of the ships you receive in return. So, you're not paying "$140+" for a game - you're paying that amount to support development, and as a gesture of appreciation, the developers offer certain ships.

The cheapest pledge package that also grants access to the final game is this Aurora pack for $30. No Alpha or Beta access, but if you cared about that, I guess you would have pledged a long time ago. If you change your mind, you can always buy an Arena Commander Pass.

Well holy !!! Seeing it makes me just want to play it more, so awesome! Hell there are even Cups!! XD RACE WARS! {AFC} guys definitly have to look into it hahaha, dude Discovery kinda MUST move on to it once it's done of course : ))) imagine moving around inside a Lib Dread and Rogues boarding it trying to take it over from the inside in FPS or 3rd Person shooter mode :D. Also imagine the meetings and Roleplay finaly for real and not 24/7 on forums :P (but of course some must be done on the forum, but instead of staying in space and doing the meeting from ship to ship, you'll finaly be able to do it face to face.

Race-Wars can be finaly done on Planets or in Space, there are even Racer Flights which you can buy + Star Cups. huehue definitly looking forward to it. They've also been mentioning Planetary Missions like you can see in the first 1 - 2 mins.

RE: Star Citizen - Venture - 08-27-2014

I don't get why there are going to be languages for the three alien species in the game (Vanduul, Xi'An, Banu) and I wonder if there will be no english translation.
