When people -want- a populated place, the natural place to go to is the official server for the mod. When people don't want that for any reason, trying to force them to go to the official server will just drive them from the game entirely. o noz a dev said it. I smell dev conspiracy. Anyway, I think everyone is making a little bit of a big deal out of nothing... for now at least. I mean... its the time of the year when exams and finals start to happen you know? And other things. Most likely old age of Freelancer and slow pace of Discovery's development. Though I put all my hopes in the new patching system that might change the whole concept and approach to development. RE: Disco Tough Love: Remove Non-Official server compatibility from future versions - Jack_Henderson - 11-24-2014 People hate to be forced, especially in their spare time. I see where the idea is coming from, and it might even seem attractive for a moment, but I am rather sure that Disco in general would lose a lot of players. I rather think that with a general decline in interest in an old game like Disco, many small servers will stop working sooner or later and then players willing to continue will look for alternatives. Imo, it's better to have thankful players who join voluntarily than disgruntled ones who want to wreck the community. I just say DDos, etc... let's not go there again. And as this thread likely raised red flags everywhere, and a Dev/Admin statement has been made, it's time for a lock? I think it would be good. RE: Disco Tough Love: Remove Non-Official server compatibility from future versions - Fluffyball - 11-24-2014 Topic. ^ +1 this. Disco shouldn't be that scattered. If they want to play on the other server = other mod. If you want to play here, learn English on at least basic level. Additionally: give away Disco 4.85 for the other servers. RE: Disco Tough Love: Remove Non-Official server compatibility from future versions - zalsrevenge - 11-24-2014 Awful idea. It will only anger those who have different servers, causing them to get fed up and never play on the official server. I agree that discovery needs more players, but this is not the way to get them. Go easier on first time rule breakers, give them more starting cash and give people more of an incentive to play. RE: Disco Tough Love: Remove Non-Official server compatibility from future versions - Gypsie Skripto - 11-24-2014 People always complain about how things were better in the past. If you did this, all we'd get would be a 4.88 Disco GC RP 24/7 with even less people, and two or three 4.87 servers with even more people. Hey for all I know this could encourage someone to actually go open a 4.85 server. How many people do you think would be left in Disco? I don't approve. What I saw with my imagination was more lolwhuts with LNS prefix... On the other hand, bigger ship on the beginning = faster trade. ...can't we restrict back the caps to SRP? Or at least CUT the number to the reasonable values? Please? It's funny coz you're "discussing" the fate of other's playerdom in a zone where most/some of them don't have a voice. Take this matter to their own forums if you want to know their opinion.
