RE: Civilian carrier. Preparation phase - E X O D I T E - 04-09-2016

Way I see it, the new model would allow for a whole bunch of new turret placement. Maybe make a couple of them Heavies. Food for thought.

RE: Civilian carrier. Preparation phase - Caelumaresh - 04-09-2016

It is supposed to be a civilian carrier, not a military carrier.
Also lets keep this about the model, not the stats, turrets or other things

Careful about turret hardpoint placement. Otherwise you will get another ship that cannot shoot across itself.
You are dealing with Cruiser turrets here, after all - secondaries in fact.

i think its pointless really..the range is too small to be in any way effective, maybe some missiles will work(GB) or something else that can only be mounted on bustard ..

also..due to engines it maybe not even fit a trade lane,so...another problem even if it looks nice..

I will not model the turret mounts, this will give flexibility to whoever will be balancing it.
TBH I have no idea how caps work.

I'd say that:
1). It is not really meant to be used in house space fitted with TLs (the ship itself);
2). The design is very rough, so everything could change.

I like the idea of using parts from the Serenity, building up something quite chunky and robust that'd suit life in the edge worlds though I imagine allowing it to use tradelanes would be quite useful.
The closest thing I could find to the shape I have in my mind is this if you ignore the pointed nose on the top part and put a larger version of the Serenity's bridge in the middle. Adding some small "doorstep" landing pads next to sealed hangar doors (perhaps cut into the hull rather than sticking out from it?) should hopefully give it a carrier/mobile base look without military overtones.

I do have another idea but it probably wouldn't work for this design as its more piecemeal and pirate-ish than a purpose built civilian carrier.

This is so sexy i cant wait to see it finished

RE: Civilian carrier. Preparation phase - Venkman - 04-11-2016

I like everything except the rear part which is like a square. Can you try something unique? ._.

RE: Civilian carrier. Preparation phase - Haste - 04-11-2016

It's a sketch, man. The "rear part" would be properly detailed, modified etc for the actual model. What you're currently looking at is just a very heavily modified/stretched serenity functioning as a concept.
