Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Spear - 12-12-2008 @ Balter: I have no problem with people being independant, trouble is it seems here are far to many indies and not enough people RP'ing faction traders. I'm not sure admin issued generic ID's are the way to go but maybe so. As for the topic being locked? Well I have seen some fair points made and not much flaming. Maybe this topic has run it's course but I don't think it merits a lock, no one is flaming the Junkers, just a select few that choose to hide behind that ID to avoid RP. As I said I run a Junker myself. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Baltar - 12-12-2008 ' Wrote:As for the topic being locked? Well I have seen some fair points made and not much flaming. As I said I run a Junker myself. I fully agree with you here ... but my point is towards a few who are a bit quick to lock topics. Notice how quick certain topics are closed and others are left to run free. There are a couple topics closed that had good discussions going and no flaming. But for some reason certain are deemed acceptable and others are deemed inappropriate. I'm American ... we're prone to protest about something. This is my 1st Amendment rant. Sorry for going off topic on this but it needs to be addressed. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Thexare - 12-12-2008 ' Wrote:On topic: Zoners are allied with Order ... so why do Zoners dock in Liberty? And don't tell me the info card is wrong because that will not fly with me.Okay, how about this one: Liberty doesn't know that. For a similar example, The Order is allied with the Corsairs, but my Outcast doesn't know that. There has been one hostile action from an Order pilot while my Outcast was around, and that one was an idiot and easily dismissed as a rogue, stolen ship, or IFF malfunction, especially since the only other incident with one was considerably more peaceful. On the trader restriction topic, hopefully you'll be happy with the new Trader/Smuggler/Freelancer limitations (3800, 3600 or Pirate Train, and 3500 respectively). Even Zoner and Junker have some limits, though the equivalent Guard IDs don't if I recall right. If you ask me, that's a hell of a lot better than making any of them require administrator intervention... But, I think the complaints will never stop. Instead of people complaining about generic traders that don't RP, they'll complain about Interspace IDed traders that don't RP. Edits: Slight grammar and phrasing tweaks. Seems everybody's making stuff up as they go along to justify the way the act. My Junker Cruiser awaits its next encounter with an overzealous Libertine ... can't wait to be destroyed again. Geez! Quote:But, I think the complaints will never stop. Instead of people complaining about generic traders that don't RP, they'll complain about Interspace IDed traders that don't RP. Welp ... my Junker is Junker ID'd and Junker IFF'd ... don't have any "generic" ID issues with me ... yet I'm still decimated over and over again. EDIT: I'm a bit ticked off right now ... sorry about the tone. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Thexare - 12-12-2008 ' Wrote:*HEADDESK* FINE ... do whatever the heck you please.I don't bring mine into Liberty. My only Zoner is a Viper MkII that's almost always docked on Freeport 6. One of my old ones, yes (also a fighter, actually), but that one I was still attempting and failing to properly set up... I was just providing what I thought was a reasonable explanation. Not everyone knows all the details of their enemies' diplomacy. Well some folk seem to think its ok to know where all the unlawful bases are (even those hidden in rocks) ... how can they know that and NOT know that Zoners are allied with Order? I'm just getting a bit annoyed at all the contradictions and double-speak with certain folk. Its extremely frustrating to try to role play with people that are unwilling to listen to you. I tried to role play with a few Libertines about a week ago and one gent chose to egg on the capship to destroy me. This guy was in a bomber and was just looking for something to blow up. The cap chose to destroy me because he chose not to accept that my ship is of Junker origin and was NOT a Rheinland NOR a Pirate vessel. And while I sat there getting lectured about my being present there a flipping Zoner cap flies by without Liberty saying a word. Zoners and Junkers are supposed to be fairly neutral to pretty much everyone ... but it seems Zoners get a free pass and Junkers get the shaft. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Thexare - 12-12-2008 And I agree with you about the hidden bases, so why are you regularly snapping at me about contradictions that I have not, to the best of my knowledge, actually demonstrated? Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Baltar - 12-12-2008 ' Wrote:... so why are you regularly snapping at me about contradictions that I have not, to the best of my knowledge, actually demonstrated? Never said it was you specifically. And I don't think I've ever responded to you before ... so the "regularly" bit is a bit off I think. Notice I said "with certain folk" ... I'm not gonna name names here ... but I've met many who are the do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do types. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Dusty Lens - 12-12-2008 ' Wrote:Remember Junkers enemies are Xenos, Hogosha and House Corperations, this means Junkers may dock on a police base planet like Manhattan, it also means Junkers should not dock on House I'm going to take a moment to, somewhat off topic, refute that point. Interspace bases maintain a rather wider 'open door' policy than most corporate holdings, due to the nature of their enterprise. I would dare say that Rippongi is one of the very very few safe havens for a Junker within the confines of Kusari, actually. While I wouldn't necessarily extend that sentiment to a Universal or Republican Shipping base, the four Interspace bases wouldn't be unwelcoming at all to a Junker who wants a little insurance for whatever goods he may be shipping. Now, to contribute my own two cents (unsolicited and doubtlessly undesired) to the extraordinarily complex nature of the Junkers (granted in the form of a simple answer, therefor demolishing the complexity beneath my mighty boot), is that you have to give a nod to their complex nature. The Junkers deal with the Corsairs, the Junkers deal with the Outcasts, the Junkers deal with the Cops. I think that sentence, in a rather delightfully simple way, illustrates exactly how people would generally feel about them. Excepting certain organizations such as the Hogosha and the Xenos, whom take no small delight in reducing Junker vessels to their base elements, a Junker is only as good as the cargo he's carrying and where he's carrying it. Junkers rat out other folks to the Cops, sure, but unless he's in the process of buying off his own freedom in exchange for someone else's he's gonna pay the fine. Junkers run 02 to the Mollies and mayhap haul some gold away, sure, but when they're not doing that maybe they're moving artifacts for the Corsairs or loot to the closest BMM base. So that Junker better be ready to pay the fine. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this. A Junker moving to supply your enemy aint your friend, a Junker moving to supply your buddies gets a high five, a Junker moving along to profit himself could go either way depending on the mood of the guy behind the guns. Move quick, talk fast, don't get caught. If you get caught figure it out, but that Junker ID should only be expected to get you as far as the intentions, and wit, of the pilot holding it. Also, Xenos rule. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Thexare - 12-12-2008 ' Wrote:And I don't think I've ever responded to you before ... so the "regularly" bit is a bit off I think. You have, actually. Incidentally, it was another topic involving trader IDs. That issue really seems to tick you off. Not important anyway. As far as Junkers and piracy, you know, the original topic I've so far accidentally ignored? If it's one you know and you don't think he's currently supplying your enemies, I'd say go a bit easy on him. Maybe a discount, maybe a little less violence... but the Junker shouldn't expect to get by without cost unless he's directly helping your faction. Just maybe with less expense. And even that little discount should only be if it's one you know. Partially the "does he RP like a Junker" question, and partially the "prior business relationship" part - if he's helped you in the past, you might want to be nice so he keeps helping. |
