Whether you ID a Wilde-ID via their ID, or via their "abnormal alien equipment" makes no difference in practise. The Wilde ID does not need an exception because most of the interactions follow one of the models: a) Wilde who want to pvp... then... you get pvp-ed. b) Wilde who want to roleplay. Then they get either roleplay (normally it is easy to spot when they are out for rp), or... pvp, depending on the players on both sides. I don't see any reason to make an exception for 1 ID. RE: Are ID's INRP or OORP Please Discussion - JorgeRyan - 11-10-2016 I don't have long before I have to go to work, so I'm just going to drop this idea I had, around covert/undercover characters, stemming from the problem of having a "Blank ID" for Wilde characters. Since they are the only ones with that ID, then clearly everyone with that ID is part of the Wilde. My proposed idea, which you can feel free to give feedback on, is to have an undercover/covert ID that is operated and given out similar to the Special Operative ID. You make a thread applying to the admins, which is only viewable by admins, to stop people peeking in and finding out who's who. The application would cover things like: Name of player, the character and the ship, the npc/player faction they are a part of, what their normal ID is that they would normally be beholden to. This would let Intel agencies still enforce laws on covert ships, and avoids the problem of "Blank ID" -> Wilde, since now "Covert ID" -> Intel agency? Wilde? Both? Or perhaps other factions could find uses for it. The ID itself would be something along these lines: Code: Covert ID:And similar to the SRP thread there can be one for Covert ID, where the applications are sorted, and people can ask if Not_A_Spy can indeed enforce laws within Liberty, along with requests to change ship names/factions as their roleplay develops. ("Not_A_Spy is too well known, can I change to Normal_Civillian") Thats the kind of gist I'm going for, feel free to discuss and give feedback, and I hope this helps. That said I still find the whole ID's are available to public view as a bad thing, but again this is a step in the right direction. It's up to the players to play along and see where the encounter goes, but most won't. RE: Are ID's INRP or OORP Please Discussion - Jadon King - 11-10-2016 And that's part of the problem that Shaggy, Foxglove and I have been talking about, When I said "A person who likes Pen and Paper RPG's" that kind of what I was getting at. In Palladium Fantasy (The one I've played the most) Names are power, no one uses their "True Name" because that gives people like Summoners and Necromancers the ability to have dominance over you, your name is in your character sheet. there's also a race of beings called simply "Changelings" they are persecuted because of the fact that during wars they were summoned to act as infiltrators and assassins, as a result if one is found out they are hunted down and killed nine out of ten times. The reason I bring this is up is, If you play as a Changeling you have two VERY important things in your sheet that if someone looks, they now have so much leverage over you, or (Like here) Scream "Changeling!" and you find yourself having to write up a new character. So you keep your sheet close to you, making sure people don't know everything about you, allowing you to slip by to accomplish your own agenda, as good or evil as it may be. Here, if you decide to try and play Wilde you don't have that security, leading to the inevitable scan then "WE GOT A WILDE HERE!" that's why we were bringing up these alternate means of ID. I know I know, that's a lot of text, but I there really wasn't another way to get what I wanted to say across. RE: Are ID's INRP or OORP Please Discussion - gafwmn - 11-10-2016 Personally , from what I have observed on this server and others over the years , if the ID's were to be removed and people only had the IFF to go by , it would be a disaster. As an example I give you this thought.....a group of Skype buddies are slightly hammered on a weekend and are bored with the usual grind on Disco....1 of them has a "brilliant" idea for the gang................... Do you see where this could possibly go ?........It could go good......or it could go bad. And hey, it's disco....some want nuthin but blues . So making them not allowed to be classed as RP when everything on the info description is written out of roleplay. It just makes more sense not being allowed via the Server Rules to use ID's as an inRP thing. |
