Let's jus make em funny,

Some people claim ''Oh, this is not RP at all''. To hell with that, don't push RP that far, it's all OORP text anyway, who care if you see Player got pwned or Player got his vessel destroyed, it mean the same anyway, and i would enjoy seeing funny texts;)

I appreciate a sense of humor Loyd, but I'd rather see something more immersive than a one liner that will get old pretty fast, isn't that why we RP? Too lose ourselves in another world and exist in a fantasy.
I'd rather see RP messages instead of something funny, at least in my opinion.

Could the suicide be so that it charges 500k from your char?

I know there some issues with it like what if the char does not have 500k, but a small penalty would be nice.
Two thoughts come to mind:

a. Poor newbie guy just lost all his money in a terrible accident.
b. Get rid of all your cash and your ship becomes impervious to extreme radiation and heat as well as severe atmospherical drag.

On topic:

I'd like to see something in the lines of, "<character a>'s ship was destroyed by <character b>."

Also, good idea about the joining/leaving messages. Maybe even,

<character>'s ship transponder came online.
<character>'s ship transponder went offline.

Gronath idea is by far my favorite. The joke ones.... nope.

Very good idea for the joining/leaving game messages, though I'd prefer if they just went altogether.

True, I know I wouldn't miss them myself. But then again, they may very well be right now an "unoticed" aid to factions, as people become aware of others of his faction's characters joining the game. Even if they are for certain an aid to lurkers.
