This is a wonderful change! Certainly a great start to the 2nd half of 2019.
I think the most important thing about this is the lack of having to start from scratch for players who return years down the road. I was just getting ready to refresh my characters, so this is handy timing!

I'd suggest figuring out a system where people can request taken names that they want to use be examined for activity in like, the last year, but I feel that's pretty low priority

Thanks a lot! Even if it comes too late for some of my ships, my oldest Ship is still there. I have lost 10 bank ships and 4 of my Shop-Ships.
Anyways, a few hundred million credits are still there, also 3 of my Shops. Should be enough, if I wish to comeback some day.
