I'd like to think that with my perspective, I can understand rebelliousness and resentment.

She's my daughter. I'll do everything I can to protect her. Which is why I don't want to be the kind of father that expects her to take after either of us. I want to give her the time and space required to always think about what kind of person she wants to be as a young woman. I doubt it'll be easy for her given her mixed heritage being such a stark contrast. But I know that rebellion is only ever fostered in the face of repression.

This isn't to say I would be so liberal as to be neglectful. Just that I believe she would be less inclined to make stupid and impulsive decisions out of spite, because she knows her father won't treat her like a child, or refuse to hear her out.

And even if everything else fails. She's still my daughter.
