' Wrote:Yes on release the hounds, no on bringing anything excessively large. The Recon Cruiser is the limit (others might balk but it is, in fact, meant for recon, so it shouldn't be holed up in Minor), but anything bigger should require some kind of declared event for release from the Omicrons.

Good idea. And it makes sense. After all, it is called a Recon Cruiser.

well the carrier could be up for debate. I mean, it's ment for this kind of thing. Since the Order doesn't have bases all the way around Sirius, why not bring our own bases with us? Of course they'd have to stay low and blablabla, but a biiig yes for territory expansion!

A carrier seems unnecessary if it's reconnaisance in systems other than the Omicrons that is being discussed. Fighters are quite capable of traveling long distances by themselves. Carriers exist to resupply and re-equip those fighters. But the fighters here should ideally (in my mind) be from a civilian shipline, capable of docking on civilian bases and thus can get parts and whatnot sold by civilians. A carrier is just inviting hostility. A recon cruiser sounds alright, just so long as it sticks to the Border Worlds and Edge Worlds. Can't imagine it would be too welcome in house space.

Well, Liberty is the exception to that, since all Order ships are shot down or told to leave there. Guess carriers/cruisers could head into Liberty if necessary.

The BHG, in my mind, complicate matters for the Order in more ways than one. Before in vanilla, the Order didn't have many bases to defend and didn't have stations other than the Osiris. Now they have a guard system full of shipyards and an inhabited planet.

My personal thinking should be that Order capships should stay in the Omicrons just like the BHG capships. However, I think the Order should have small fighter squadrons operating in almost every Sirius system. Definitely in every House capital. Think of a Zoner faction except instead of being openly neutral with everyone they are secretly neutral and openly hostile with most.

I think it sucks that the order are pretty much locked up in Minor.

Perhaps some new diplomacy is in order so they can get out and stretch their legs a bit?

It would promote more role play and fun for them.

EDIT: Perhaps have them neutral to the Lib Police and Navy, but maybe a bit antagonistic to the LSF?

I thought about this topic back when my (short-lived) Order character was around. Eagle with Death's Hand lasers, figured I'd just lie and say they were personally modified. They look enough like Flashpoints. Anyway, I figured that fighter pilots would be best served using Griffins, Eagles, Rocs, Virages, etc., and hopping from Freeport to Freeport for supplies rather than bringing a carrier along for the ride.

Freeports are, after all, all over the place.

If the Corsair alliance wasn't there, and that their enemies were those under Nomad influence, as well as, of course, Bounty Hunters, it would be much better, as opposed to being enemies of anything the Corsairs dislike.

Right not, being so tightly linked to the Corsairs hurts the Order's individuality and character, unfortunately.

So, I'll abstain, since there is no 'Yes, with conditions'.

The alliance with the Corsairs (and the Hogosha) is something that kind of smells ad hoc - in my opinion. One of the reasons I don't have an Order character.

And that alliance could lead to diplomatic difficulties where none really need to exist.

If I were Order, I would negotiate a neutral stance with the Corsairs and the Hogosha. No need to burn bridges with them, but a close knit alliance doesn't really make much sense. And it complicates Order rp unnecessarily.

I've abstained my vote, for much of the same reasons as Blunt.

Edit: No carriers in House Space, outside of special events. Please.

As stated elsewhere, an alliance doesn't necessarily mean that the two factions have to be completely aligned diplomatically. All an alliance needs is a mutual enemy or two, and they are willing to work together to accomplish a goal. I actually have no problem with the Order being allied to both the Blood Dragons and the Corsairs at the same time because those two factions would never meet. They could even be allied to Bretonia because of the special roleplay the Order has, namely that they don't help human group against others, but humans against aliens.

The Order-Corsair alliance formed out of a military necessity that, if you read the in game text, developed because of the situation in the Omicrons. Outcasts are genetically altered by cardamine and are active in a nefarious plot to subdue the rest of the human race. BHG thought they could scoot in and wipe out the small group easily, so they were hostile. The Corsairs were savage and bloodthirsty, but they had been fighting against the Nomads for much longer than anyone else in Sirius had known about them. That is the reason. Stop acting like this thing sprang up from nowhere.

I would like to take a step back and offer a plea for everyone to stop altering some faction's alliance on the simple prospect that "if they're allied to Corsairs/Outcasts/Whoever, they will roleplay and act just like them." An alliance doesn't mean a faction must obey the bigger one's decisions. If Order players are taking cues from Corsairs, then perhaps they need step up to the plate instead of complaining about it. You didn't create an Order character? Hmmm, perhaps you should try and work on it and then come back and offer criticism. Changing diplomacy on the infocard doesn't mean that faction will suddenly become independent, that is for the players to decide.
