why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - Zelot - 08-28-2009 ' Wrote:@Joe: Is that the situation? Was there several lines of role-play which is missing out of the video? It looks as if about the first minute of the interaction is missing from my screenshots. why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - Serpentis - 08-28-2009 ' Wrote:C'mon. Really? /signed Also: darthbeck, if you where sitting in that Mining ship, would you have sat there and questioned the guy shooting torpedos at you, or would you put your engines on full and try to escape, even if you knew there was little to no chance to survive. If your answer is anything but "No id Flee!" Then you just lost the game. Sorry but as I can not see you giving anything constructive to counter what has allready been said but continue to Link the Video of you mining and a Phantom trying to RP with you then id ask you nicely to stop now. before this gets out of hand. Now this is my view on it. Thanks for your time -Serpentis why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - n00bl3t - 08-28-2009 ' Wrote:Phantoms do not want to just pew pew. Disagree. With citations preferably. Without a touch of substance your post is the intellectual equivalent of "no u". Might as well be constructive while we're all here with the torches and pitchforks. why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - Divine - 08-28-2009 Well, before Iam off now, I just wanted to leave a last quote or rather a signature link here.... ...not necessarily directed towards anyone in special, more directed to the community as a whole, including me. ![]() kthxbai. - Div. why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - n00bl3t - 08-28-2009 ' Wrote:Please elaborate. Hopefully, Nathan caught the gist of it. (If I wanted to "no u" it would be more obvious.) How are you meant to learn everything about a faction and develop an all-encompassing view of them by reading some text in a post which is most likely embellished? (Or as close to an all-encompassing view as one can get.) why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - kingvaillant - 08-28-2009 Guilty vs. Guilty situation to my eyes. Both didn't offer much RP to the other, in fact, only a few words, same or extremely similar sentences most of the time. The quality of the RP from both pilot is disappointing. Also, none of them actually tried to develop a deeper conversation (RP) with the other. Fish never comes to you, you must come to it. Plus, on one hand, the phantom looked like a man waiting to "happy trigger" his prey [defenseless miner]. While the miner looked like a bad RPer/newbie because of his actions during the encounter (kept doing his operations non-stop) At the moment this tread look like a hot potato game... None of the sides wants to take ANY blame. Both seems to be searching to be totally innocent... I mean come on, is it that hard to admit your misbehavior? Is it that hard to find a way to improve? If you wonder why you happen to be flamed quite a lot, look at how you react to most accusations, you always do everything to avoid the blame. Cleaning your hands from the crap every time. By just admitting some SUBTLE errors or minor misbehavior the player will back off, feel like he won a piece of his cake, and be glad of having been listened. Just admitting to have committed some subtle errors is enough to make an angry crowd disperse. Since the error you have promised to fix is so...minimal (but yet has a lot of importance to the complainer since he won a point lets say), everyone will forget about it very quickly. I've been using this tactic for quite a while, I admit, but it works. Also, as pointed out by Turkish and other persons, the lack of any feedback tread (or locked feedback tread with PM address as suggested by Rob) does not help you in any way. Like some members, I firmly believe that all factions should have a feedback tread, specially for factions using admin given ID. Your RP force you to frequently walk on a tight rope, accept this fact. Do all you can to avoid falling from it or resort to draconian methods to end flames. As for the current complainer (tread starter), the lack of context and evidence before and after the encounter doesn't help to make your point valid enough to community members, me included. Lack of evidence will make you being ignored. if there were any witnesses, contact them, etc. Now, as always, some of you will have thoughts like "hush up" "he's totally wrong" etc... I don't really care, to me, you are just proving my point. Thank you and goodnight... ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz EDIT: my apology for any mistakes in the text... I barely sleep last night and worked all day. why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - Eppy - 08-28-2009 ' Wrote:C'mon. Really? I agree with him. Why? The Phantoms have reinforced that reputation. If they want to absolve themselves and ditch it they have to GIVE the players they choose to attempt RP with - especially the traders, who are phobic of anything with a SNAC and even more so of anything that doesn't have to ask for money before using that SNAC - multiple opportunities to RP their way out of a situation alive, preferably without demeaning themselves. The Phantoms have the power to blow whatever they want into small pieces whenever they want. They have a responsibility not to use that power and be the better RPers - blowing a player up because he is convinced they are going to blow him up and that he shouldn't bother taking them seriously is not a justification for blowing him up. What it should be is motivation to prove that player wrong and try to change his mind by presenting him with a situation (or two, or three, etc) that he can interact with that doesn't involve 'run for your life' or 'wanna play' - because those are the kinds of things that assure people that they're about to die, lose their cargo and get knocked halfway back across Sirius because they got jumped by a Phantom. You have to lead the players on - You have to feed them opportunities, because they're not going to seek them out; they expect to die. Show them that they don't need to. EDIT: Also, yes, I know the majority of Phantoms are not like this. On the rare occasion I encounter one I do have good experiences sometimes, and I am friends with multiple Phantoms. why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - Zapp - 08-28-2009 Mmmhmmm. I'm going to share some unwritten rules (well, written now, since I'm putting them out) to being a Phantom -- or any terrorist. Interacting with traders/miners:
Takes two to tango. The old adage I prefer in this case is YOU SOW WHAT YOU REAP!! On that note, I am a proud owner of every single kind of Terrorist ID on this server. I've been around this block way more than once. Way more. More often than not, it's not the terrorist (we're being vague here, this includes Keepers, Wilde, Phantoms, and generic Terrorists) who is at fault for the lack of RP, but the other party. Trust me when I say if you try to RP, you usually get it back. And if you were trying to RP, well, we go on experience. A guy that sits there and just keeps mining while saying "why you shoot?" is 98% of the time not looking for RP. If you're that 2%, well, sucks to be you. EDIT: Also, to the whole "Phantoms are an admin playground" thing... only 2 active Phantoms (forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm not looking at anything right now) are Admins. why do the phantoms not have a feedback thread? - darthbeck - 08-28-2009 ' Wrote:C'mon.
