For people who think being a pirate is boring, just check here and see how many pay big credits to hunt and kill these lane sitters. While your at it, have a look at the amount that has been claimed.
Being a pirate is not easy. They sit on lanes that sometimes never see passing trade. They get engaged by huge numbers of law enforcers who hunt them relentlessly, everywhere and anywhere.
Pirates don't generally pirate for cash, they pirate for RP. Interaction. Most of these guys have a trader who buys the gunship/pirate transport/bomber for them to get them started. That means they started the same way as you did.

I admit that there are some bad examples, but believe me, thats true both sides of the legal fence and anyone who's been here a while knows thats true.
So true...

Edit: The bigger problem for pirates, well, around Liberty anyway, is the Lulerty Navy, especially when there's too many lolpirates around and they get trigger happy.

Surely there are places to set up your little extortion shop in independent systems like Magellan etc. Usually you get a free ride that way, BUT it then does not give you the excitement of getting caught, does it? :nyam:

On my LRF when i am demanding a Corporate Trader drop his goods, sometimes he F1's, as soon as i see the "cloaking" i open fire and blow up his ship fast.

9 / 10 i get him and he comes back several minutes later, one time i got one with a Codename and he cussed up a storm when an AU and i blew him up, sent me all sorts of hatemail and stuff, we gave him fair warning but he decided that an F1 was a good idea.

So i say show no mercy to F1ers, blow their ships up as soon as they try cloaking and feel better about yourselves.

Hello all

Im new to this game, but i want to tell my experience so far as well:).

Ok first the bad one. I was completely new on the server and got some starting money as a gift from a helpfull player. With that money i could buy a Rhino and some cargo.
Then i wanted to buy an ID in Kepler and started to fly there. At some jumpgate someone kills my shields and tells me to stop. Which i do... then he wants a million credits:D. At that point i panicked i guess (cause i absolutely had no clue) and just told him, that i dont have so much money (which was true) and ran into the trade lane with full speed.
That was actually strange... Rhino, no cargo paying a million? No...

Now the good ones:)

Pirates who saw me, but didnt attack at all because im new i think:). Very nice really.. but im always nervous when i start with a trade run because i could be robbed:Dwhich is really a lot of fun to me.
So please dont stop pirating, it brings so much to the game.

Not piracy but close:
Oh and i was trying to bring goods into Rheinland once and came from Liberty space. Very cool roleplay with the Rheinland military, which led to me dropping my cargo and going back.

Cheers
Fleur

I want more high-qualified pirates, who really want to do RP and not behave like a bunch of bloodthirsty wolves!

If you really need cash, you can always do trading. Theres absolutely no need for excessive taxing afterall.
Lad, methinks you need to go sit on a lane for a while. Piracy is not a super-profitable venture as you seem to think it is. Hell, most of the time, my demands are less than a million, and sometimes even just for a few units of whatever you're hauling. Even if I were a 2milrdie lolpirate (or his ugly 5milrdie cousin), I'd still not make as much profit through piracy as I would trading.

As for not wanting pirates to RP and not act like a bunch of bloodthirsty wolves... well, proper pirate RP (at least for the Buccaneers) is to act like a bunch of bloodthirsty wolves! We're rummaging through your credit account or cargo bay at gunpoint, not discussing the weather!

Swing up by Leeds sometime, and my Buccaneer lads will show you how it's done.

Wait a sec... How in the world can you cut off both of your hands without using some specialized hand-chopping device?

Well, he has a point. Most traders I get either A: Try to run. B: F1. or C: Engage me without notice/for some weirdass reason. Knowing I could rip them into bits.
