Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - darthbeck - 09-23-2009 When will the ability to manualy change our names be given? after the forum is cleaned, or sooner? Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - mwerte - 09-23-2009 It's already been implimented. Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - chovynz - 09-23-2009 Oh I know your quite serious. That's why I'm doing this from my end. My goal is to help you guys be efficient in time without, *Us* loosing some valuable threads, while the pruning is going on. Think of what I'm doing as cleaning the floors while you are shearing. The reason I suggested keeping some of them is because some flood threads are actually serious discussions. Are you going to take those off as well? (My list was attempting to keep those on the board. I can be more specific with the list, if you guys can be more specific about the "Epic" threads. Which ones are you looking at chopping? Which ones are the 5% threads? Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - NerdRage - 09-23-2009 May i ask a request not to have my sig-link post deleted? instead of deleting the thread, delete every other post in it, please? Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - johnpeter - 09-23-2009 Idea: Why don't we only leave the first post for those epic threads and delete all those behind it? That seems like a good idea? Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - mwerte - 09-23-2009 Hyung, we're looking at chopping every flood thread that hasn't been posted in within the last 14 days. The only super safe way of making sure you don't lose a thread is by backing it up offline. Bumping your thread -should- save it but isn't guaranteed, same as adding it to your list o threads. JP: leaving only the first post in a thread is a rather significant chunk of work. It is an option though. Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - chovynz - 09-23-2009 Now that Igiss has enabled posting that news thread, is it possible to merge these two? http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...view=getnewpost http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...view=getnewpost Done Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - Donutman - 09-23-2009 I would imagine things like "Say something about the person above you" with its 700 pages will get a lot removed. Maybe the LN message dump too.... :P Forum cleaning, Wiki changes, and Discovery Issue 14/4.86 development - Igiss - 09-24-2009 Hyung, when you merged the threads, did you notice that the thread from News forum was gone, and the announcement was gone from the main page as well? Moved it back to News. I also don't know what you mean in me merging the threads since, I'm not a moderator and have no ability to do so. I didn't see the sense in having two comment-able threads about the same issue, with people asking and saying the same things (all because I made a separate thread.) So I asked a mod to merge them. I don't know what happened with the merger, but some important questions seem to have gone missing. In any case. I'm not really bothered if all of flood goes. I just thought we could save some of them, and wanted to find out how much and what is being targeted. That has now been answered. The pruning needs doing, it'll make the forums more lightweight, so it's a good thing. People just need to realise that the flood will be treated like a terrorist. (i.e. taken out with extreme prejudice!:D) Edit: Ah, I see where the misunderstanding came from ... someone wrote "Done" on my post without attribution of the "Done". |
