I've started playing Freelancer online for the wrong reasons at first, about six years or more ago.
Being in that world made me forget all about my reality, I got addicted to that escape. Everybody has it's own way to escape their reality, some drink, some use drugs and I, I used Freelancer.

I've learned a ton of things when playing not just on Discovery but also on those other servers. I've even made friends via this game, even though that sounds wrong. Some live to far away to actually meet, but there's one who I actually see in real life even though we don't play Freelancer together (as we're both in separate sections of Sirius, and we both don't play that much anymore)

Freelancer helped me improve my English skills for sure, even this very same day when talking to British, American, Australian and even to people from New Zealand are amazed about my English. On highschool I was capable to speak better then my teacher.

All that is so long ago now..

Freelancer and Discovery itself didn't learned me anything. It was the trigger.
After I got rid of my addiction to the escape I was capable to grow personally. Who I am right now is not thanks to Freelancer nor to Discovery as odd as that might sound, but like I said it is the cause why I started evolving. It's one of the factors in my life that helped me change into somebody better, I'm not there yet but at least I don't need a addiction now, I don't need to escape reality.

Freelancer is the causes I'm now facing my reality.

And man do I feel like a first class nerd now!

Disco...Disco....

What's Disco done to me?

Well'p....it's made me addicted to online gaming as if it were some sort of drug...seriously, not being able to get in game is bugging the hell out of me...xD

In regard to personality changes I'd have to say that Discovery has caused me to bottle up all my anger and rage until finally one little thing happens and I explode on somebody/something/a group of players. (Thankfully that didn't happen often but...it has, even though I'm generally a happy fun bucket of lovehugs, or something like that..)

I can't wait to return to the community full time so I can warmly welcome the old feelings of DiscoRageHate and Apathy - (Yes rage and apathy at the same time, I'm not sure how it works...but it happens!) - that I miss so much right now XD.

I'm cynical and grumpy. Good work, Disco.

Honestly? Disco's not done a lot to me really. Every responce to disco is passing and transient. The only real change is that fact I speak to people I wouldn't normally speak to. Disco hasn't changed me, but it has taken my time, and given me stuff in return.

Yeah, these are some nice lines, well said.
I can only repeat that.

Disco has given me pale skin and acne. Not much else, aside from a few friendships and a time-sink.

Well uh, I haven't changed much from this disco experience, except for one thing. Standing back and looking at things from a distance. Sure helps when a rage moment's comin'.

This community is also an interesting place to observe from a psychological perspective.
