Aoi Iseijin General Information and Place to cry your eyes out - AeternusDoleo - 01-08-2011 Something that happened to me minutes ago has highly annoyed me. Following situation: I was in my IMG miner, delivering a load of silver to Narita. I entered the New Tokyo system, and at Shinegawa, a [KNF] member stopped me. This KNF was as far as I could tell, unaffected. In the lane, I passed several vessels included a covert Aso Iseijin. This group moved to Shinegawa, where the KNF member was scanning me. A NPC capital patrol showed up with a cruiser and two gunboats. The Wilde vessel moved behind my ship as the capitals started shooting, then called me a spy, because I was taking the hits. I tried to dodge a bit, but the Hegemon isn't exactly nimble or small. Since I was too busy evading cruiser fire, I could not type a reply, and soon the KNF vessels joined in the attack. I quickdocked on Shinegawa, and logged. This is abuse of game mechanics people. If you are incognito then capital ships should not be shooting at you, so don't go ahead and abuse the fact that the game cannot discern between a covert and an overt Wilde. This is the first bad encounter I've had with either Keepers or Wilde though - most of the times it's been good roleplay. Might have been good roleplay here too if it didn't start with NPCs taking chunks out of my hull while trying to hit an infectee. Aoi Iseijin General Information and Place to cry your eyes out - Akura - 01-08-2011 Yeah, you fought the non-Covert half of the Iseijin, who used you as a shield for station pulses, which I see as a perfectly valid tactic and not an abuse of game mechanics. I don't see anything wrong here... Aoi Iseijin General Information and Place to cry your eyes out - AeternusDoleo - 01-08-2011 Not the station. A NPC capital ship patrol. And the member was posing as a KNF officer - so would have needed to be covert. Perhaps using the wrong ID then? Sadly, I only have the conversation logged. Was too busy trying to stay alive to be able to screen IDs. I did not fight them. I was stopped by the KNF for a routine scan, then called a spy by this Iseijin while he was triggering gunfire -and- maintaining a KNF cover. It is the combination of the two that is annoying me, as there can be no IRP reason for it - even a brief comm with the NPC "captain" would have cleared up who it's true target was. If I'd have been outright attacked by an overt Wilde, this would have been a nonissue and the KNF would have fought the Wilde instead of me. My point in this is: A covert unit does not trigger NPCs to attack it, and then use that gunfire to try and single out others. This one did. Even if so, the KNF folk around him surely must have noted every tradelane taking potshots at the Wilde character as well. There -is- no covert Remnants, sure, we'll try to play the part, but if you call us Wild we'll blow your brains all across the station. Furthermore, if we're supposed to be covert, then why are we using guns that are -obviously- not Kusari? Or would you like it if we just shot you with some crappy one liner instead of giving you the small window to explain yourself? Oh wait, you'd complain about -that- too... (sun) Aoi Iseijin General Information and Place to cry your eyes out - Shagohad - 01-08-2011 If you encounter a Wild ID'd ship with Nomad guns and equipment, treat it as such. We weren't able to work with it before, so things seem backwards when we advocated you guys should just roll with it. But times have changed. And we have a new policy. So we won't grip if you say our ships are Wild when they give all signs of being under Nomad influence. But it is still within our RP to be tricky. But when it comes to us, it's a lose lose situation. Aoi Iseijin General Information and Place to cry your eyes out - AeternusDoleo - 01-08-2011 If I actually had the time to scan all the ships and identify the guns as such before that capital patrol and your group started to collectively bury me I might have been able to do that. I was left with no opportunity to write a reply to the "you're a spy" accusation because I was already under attack. Quickdocking was basically my only way out of that mess. If I had scanned nomad equipment I'd have pointed this out. Nowhere at any point in this situation did I accuse any ship of being a nomad infestee. I treated all the involved pilots as KNF officers. Including the Wild tagged one. I'd consider it metagaming to point at an ID and say "Nommie, there". That's no fun for people RPing covert activities. But I also consider it metagaming to use the crossfire of NPCs as an excuse to call someone a spy. Eh. Bad situation. Next time I'll just quickdock on the first hit - not getting a chance to RP in these situations anyway so you might as well escape them. I didn't use the crossfire as an excuse to call you a spy, I call -everyone- a spy, it's my thing, and I called you a spy before you were being shot at by the by. Stop trying to put crap on us. |
