Every alert siren on the Social Credit went off at once AGAIN.

This time it was the collision impact alarms.

Enrico didn't have time to react, something slammed into the Social Credit from above, driving it down towards the base of the ravine in a spin. Every alert screamed, as the gunboat struggled under the impact, and Alvarez had to hit the lower boosters to gain altitude, pulling on the collective and applying throttle.

The jeep on the back of the Social Credit bounced along the spine of the craft, slamming off of the tail just as the gunboat broke out of the the ravine, sailing the last few meters across to the far side, crashing through the trees and brush, before roaring off again into the night.

The Social Credit pinwheeled again, it's tail crashing into the cliff face, gouging out trees, roots and rocks and sending them hurtling downwards. The ship was in trouble, shifting left and right as it climbed into the dark sky.

Enrico fought the controls, knowing that the damage wrought to the tail was the cause of their problems. Ten minutes with a ball pin hammer and they'd be right as rain... problem was they were going to have to set down somewhere to do that.

He guided the ship towards the edge of the Warner Estate, picking an area of the south lawn to land awkwardly... and by land, of course, he meant a controlled crash.

The sleep may've been troubled, but nothing too dangerous actually happened. The daytime ahead, however, could be all very different.

Removing the traps, checking the weapons and eating a little lunch, Vilen became ready to move again. Still, he wasn't going to move anywhere before checking it via binoculars first. Deserted village he thought he was some movement in on the horizon and nothing too special in any other way.

- Civilization, huh? I'd better stay out of it here. After all, usual man can live about 2 months without food, only on his internal reserves, and i still have enough ammo to worry much, so no reason for me to come anywhere i can meet anyone.

...however, in some hours there was a little encounter. Twitching and moaning body crawled out the bushes while he was looking into his binoculars forward. Good thing it tried to yell "BRAAINS!. A few well-placed shots have put this poor creature out of the misery.

It was time to move on.

Abseiling down a cliff-face with a rope without any sort of safety equipment or light to see what he was doing. Not exactly a fun-packed day for Miller. Oh, and it was raining. Really, for Miller it just wasn't his cup of tea. A cup of tea was his cup of tea, not making his way across a radiation-covered rock for some test.

The cliff-face was hard for his boots to grip, its surface constantly being drenched by the incoming rain. Miller's hands must have been drained of blood as they clenched for dear life to the rope.

Suddenly, a blinding light. He almost let go of the rope in an attempt to cover his eyes. He tried to adjust as quickly as he could, to see the source of the light. He stared past the shining, and saw - much to his relief - the Social Credit, illuminating the path for him. Or did they just want to watch him fall?

No, it was probably the former. Enrico Alvarez seemed like the helpful sort of chap, from when Miller had worked briefly with him during Scott's revolt. He brought his wrist computer/TAC to his face, and spoke words he decided would let them know who it was.

'Did you bring my dressing gown?'

He doubted they could hear him, but he could always hope. With the Social Credit illuminating the rock-face he was able to quicken his pace down to the bottom of the ravine. Until suddenly, a loud roaring could be heard over the rain, along with a man's screaming.

The crash of rubber and metal on more metal forced Miller to stop his descent and look. Some sort of jeep had landed on the Social Credit, and ridden its length before disembarking and landing on the floor of the ravine to continue its journey. The Social Credit spun wildly, obviously receiving some sort of damage from the impact. Its light moved away from Miller, and for a second illuminated the floor. Miller was thirty feet away now.

He decided not to take any chances, and began his descent as fast as he possibly could as he listened to the Social Credit gain altitude. He occasionally looked around to follow its course, which was now a descent. He heard it "land" in the distance, and decided that Alvarez would have landed near something prominent in the landscape. A house, or perhaps a supply cache.

Miller completed his descent and landed safely. His flash light aided in finding his pistol, which by some miracle had survived the fall by landing on a mattress. He wrestled with the rope for several minutes in an attempt to bring the launcher down, but it wouldn't budge. He'd have to leave it.

He sighed again. Seemed he'd been doing quite a lot of that recently. After securing his supplies and checking the damage to his backpack, the bullet from whoever it had been destroying one of his canteens, he drank from the other and filled it up again from the water purifier, then began trudging his way toward the Social Credit crash site.

Record decryption...
Done.
Press any key to play the record.

Playback started.

I'm confused. I just heard a whack not far from my position, about 4 kilometers or even less... I think I should check it but I'll deviate from the current course again. I don't like this indiscriminate scurry to and fro, but... But at least I have a real reference point now, so... Alright, I'm going to inquire what happened there. Pieck's out.

End of file. Play again? (Y/N)

'€œWe'€™re approaching the planet, Iscariot.'€ There was an excited tone to the man'€™s voice, nay, an excited aura hung around him, oozing from every word. It was not every day Mobius Paradox got assigned a mission to engage in his beloved science in such a fashion.

Iscariot just nodded, silent. This was going to be interesting. The Coalition had given one ship access to Omega 52 in order to run scans on the hellhole of JiangXi. Iscariot had chosen his gunboat, Judas'€™ Sin and had loaded all of Mobius Paradox'€™s equipment on board. They would enter orbit around the planet and run scans to see what would need to be done in order to hold up their part of the bargain. A few minutes later'€¦

'€œThere'€™s some sort of storm, it'€™s huge. We'€™ll have to wait to get accurate scans.'€

He sounded annoyed now, but Iscariot didn'€™t mind. '€œI'€™m going down.'€

'€œWhat? Why?'€ He seemed a bit puzzled.

'€œThis is our fault, and I feel at least one Phantom should see firsthand what it'€™s like to make a planet burn.'€

It was an odd sentiment, especially from the aged Terminator, but not one which Mobius Paradox was allowed to question. One look silenced him, for a change. Iscariot went down a short hallway and opened up the armory. Power armor stood of its own accord, or at least that'€™s how it appeared. Iscariot pulled on the full battle dress worn by normal Phantom marines. It was a terrifying sight to behold, especially when bullets were repulsed or melted on impact.

Iscariot pulled himself into an escape pod after making sure he was adequately armed and supplied. Mobius Paradox stopped him before making the descent.

'€œWould you mind taking this scanner with you? Might help get a more localized feel for the environment.'€

The devilish head just nodded, and then he was gone.

The few hours of rest Jovanovic could get were mandatory for him to continue on his way south to one of the colonies, a way back to safety. He left the little house, back into the dangerous area. He could see the end of the plains followed by a forest. It seemed this was the only way for now so he entered the forest. He found something like a little storage depot in the middle of a forest and was quite surprised about it.

'€œA quite unusual place for a depot, let'€™s see what is inside'€

There was an unpleasent guest waiting for him inside. Some kind of an abomination, a really ugly beast. It hit Jovanovic before he could even think of fire at it. He fell on the ground and lost his AK-74. He saw the beast was about to kill him, but he rolled to the side and took his tactical knife out.

'€œTo hell with you, creepy creature!'€

He stabbed it multiple times in the chest. It was a battle about life and death. It was a mess, blood was everywhere and the creature fell on the ground, breathing heavily. Jovanovic took out his pistol.

'€œGo to hell!'€

He shot its head 8 times to make sure it is dead. He took back his AK-74, which was still on the ground and looked arround for useful things.

'€œEmpty...all this for nothing'€

Just before he wanted to leave, he saw something in the corner. It was a green crate, looked interesting. One kick and it was open, inside was a shiny shotgun. He smiled...

'€œAh, come to papa'€

Jovanovic took the shotgun and left the depot, ready to head south...

Vicenta leaned against the jeep, her arms crossed impatiently as she talked over the sound of someone being violently ill in the bushes. "Oh, suck it up, you big baby," she said in exasperation. "It was just a plunge into a ravine where we bounced off a gunboat. It only felt rough because the shock absorbers were broken." She checked them. "Oh wait, no they're not."

There was a weak groan from the bushes.

"We didn't even spend that long in the air that time, you know. Frankly I don't see what your problem is. If you can't handle a little reckless driving you shouldn't be in the military. Psh, one time I jumped an open drawbridge with a missing tyre, spun out into an oil slick and blew up a fuel truck."

Another groan.

"And you didn't see me complaining, or throwing up into the bushes, or going into the fetal position, or being sent to a mental ward for three weeks to recover from post-traumatic stress disorder." Something caught her eye. "Huh... Hey, that's kinda funny. Did you know our airbags have been inoperative this whole time?"

The gunner burst into tears.

However the Nugget was not the only living creature to notice the Credit's 'rough landing', a figure inside the house on the second floor gazed out the window, the window was dark so only a faint figure could be seen, it stayed there for a moment before calmly slipping away into the darkness of the hallway. In the back yard, pretty much dirt, some patches of grass compared to the front lawn and a large Kennel was located, the Kennel's gate was electronic, however it's light signifying that it was locked suddenly went green. The gate slowly slid open and it's occupants disappeared into the darkness and the rain. They were not really intelligent...However they hungered.

In the front lawn which was ruined due to the Credit's rather horrible landing, it was eerily silent, aside from the occasional lightning strike illuminating the area briefly. the lights of the house providing the other other light where they were turned on. To Enrico it felt like a page from some some horror story's first chapter.

Chun had run through the night to get to where he was now. He was taking a more South-Easterly route than the others, but he did not know this. He was merely running and trying not to breath through his nose. The stench of the bearskin on his back was beginning to become overpowering. Suddenly, he came to an abupt halt.

"Those buildings, in the distance.. New HangZhou!"

He quickened his pace through the jungle, until he reached a small road. The tarmac was still visible underneath the sheets of overgrown grass and shrubs - but it was clearly a road. It was almost like a corridor underneath the dark branches of the overgrowth. Ling saw a smashed sign by the side of the road, his senses were heightened as he checked for booby traps or imminent death. Satisfied the sign was merely just that, he removed the overgrowth and shot back in terror.

"Anshan! Home!"

He walked along the lonely road till he reached what was his home. The village where his parents had raised him to be a simple farmer. Where during the mass hysteria and confusion of the evacuation took place, they had died saving him and his sister. When he arrived in the centre of the village, he was greeted by a gruesome sight. Black skeletons littered the village, some had turned to dust - others were still decomposing. Some had died quickly and others died much more slowly and painfully. Ling tried to hold back the tears as he made his way to his parents shack.

It was never grand or beautiful this house, it could barely house the four Ling's at the best of times. The roof had caved in, and the front windows were smashed. The door was ajar, but overgrown with a thin layer of bush. He unsheathed his Jian and cut his way into the house. Once he stepped in, he felt something prick his skin at the ankle. He hit the floor with a loud thump. Dusting himself off - he looked around the living room. Pictures were still on the table, Ling picked up one of the whole of his family and held his head. He thought the toil of the last few days was beginning to take their toil, his head was aching. He made his way to the bedroom, and his fathers chest was at the bottom of the bed. He slowly opened it, wishing for it to have been untouched. He was mistaken and disappointed. The chest had precious little in it. His fathers pistol was missing, as was the ammo. There were only clothes and a first aid kit in it. Ling's head was throbbing by this point. He gazed down at his ankle.. The spine of something was in it, and the area around his ankle had turned blue. He yanked it out and was greeted by the impossible.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!"

The screech of a hideous zombie like creature was standing at the door to the bedroom. It's eyes glowed a deep orange and the black flesh on it was rotting and dead. Ling was in shock, he did not move or scream - but merely spoke a single word.

"Fa.... Father?."
"TRESSPASSERS ARE SHOT"
"Father! It's me, Chun! Father!"

Ling picked up the picture, but when he turned back to the doorway - the creature had gone. Ling opened the first aid kid and bandaged his ankle and took some pain relief and what he hoped was an anti-biotic. He left his village speedily, the roars of things in the distance scaring him away.

He did not know if what he just saw was real, or the fabric of his imagination.

"Just get it fixed Vance," Enrico called up through the darkness, standing on the ground in his protective gear he breathed through a state of the art re-breather, scanning the darkness as he kept the Squad Assault Weapon, or SAW resting against his shoulder. He had taken the precaution of setting up two sentinel guns as an extra precaution, while Vance clambered about on top of the ship, working with his hammer to smash the rudder back into shape.

For the fifth time in under a minute, the sentinel gun spun to life, hurling lead out into the darkness beyond the perimeter of the Social Credit's flood lamps. The sound of something yelping in pain quickly silenced by the staccato rhythm of the heavy machine guns.

Still, as safe as they were with the sentinel guns, Enrico still felt uneasy.

"Hurry up Vance," he called, shifting his weight as he turned to scan the darkness over by the house.

"I am hurrying!" Vance called back. "I don't like being down here any more than you do, you know!"

"Ten minute fix," Enrico reminded. "You've had fifteen."

"It's stubborn," Vance called.

"You're procrastinating," Enrico called, as something began to bay in the darkness. Baying that was echoed by a hundred other voices.

"Times up!" Enrico yelled, as the sentinel guns began to spit death into the darkness, a flood of creatures that looked like fox hounds bounding over each other heading for the ship, too many for the guns to handle on their own.

Enrico opened fire as he backed up into the ship, hammering the ramp switch, blowing away any of the random diseased hounds that managed to get past the sentinel guns to jump aboard the closing doors. The ramp ground closed, sealing him in as he shot the last of the dogs that twitched on the floor. Slinging the SAW as he sprinted up the ladder into the main body of the gunship, yelling up through the top hatch.

"Time's up, gotta go!" he called.

Vance was already wriggling through the hatch, dropping tools everywhere, "go go go go!" he yelled as the iris hatch above him sealed shut with a snap.

Enrico didn't bother to wait, jumping behind the controls and firing up the engines, the gunboat blasted skywards into the dawn, shivering and shedding hounds that were clinging and biting onto anything they could sink their teeth into.

They were airborne, for now, but that still didn't mean much, they'd lost the two sentinel guns, meaning another try for repairs wasn't on the cards. And the wobbly affect on the tail meant they couldn't gain enough altitude to make orbit. That meant the only real option they had was to abandon the training Zone and make for the nearest Coalition encampment.

Enrico didn't like it, but the Nuggets, and Colonel Gonzales were going to be on their own for a while.
