Well..... Pirates move fast. I would suggest NOT using the Large Train that it looks like you probably have on that character.

Well, the problem is that the only other ship I have is a Liberty Gunboat and that might not be very welcome amongst the pirates :D
But you have a point Ill look into it
Edit: Ok, I think Ill use my f2k-Miner char instead and equip him with an Avenger for the duration of this event. That should do it
Edit 2: Forget it flying such a small ship is no fun. Ill be bringing my Hunter to the fray just ignore him during the fight, even though hes flying a Gunboat
