Titan vs - McNeo - 02-23-2008

You know I take this seriously, Adrian.

You think I take it too seriously, and that it is all a bunch of conspiracy theories that I see.

But what has been the case, according to history, that the Titan and the Corsairs have gone through?

If I list them, it wont change anyones feelings. Those that agree will agree more, and those that disagree will disagree more.

I don't want to win, I want to lose fairly. When I lose, I want it to be because I got beaten by a person genuinely more skillful or smarter than me. Not because the person had better guns and better ships.

But if you think that way then you must think I am shortsighted. In reality, I am. Minus 2.5 in my left eye, and minus 4 in my right. I change the way I fight, but I can no longer bridge the gap between Corsairs and Outcasts with the skill I have. I used to be able too, but now I have to learn from the beginning. I do not have the time to, to be honest, I have exams and life to attend too.

But at the same time, I can't just leave. People depend on me, and depend on those I have trained and taught everything I know. TBH depends on my outspoken voice, and the pilots rely on me to be there for them. I can't leave that. The commitments I have here prevent me from doing so. I am loyal to those that are my friends.

Perhaps you dont quite know just how deep this goes, Adrian.

EDIT: Do you have a Titan now Adrian?

Equal pilots - Sabre will win 90% of the time. However, most of those who dare to fly the Titan are better pilots, so it ends up being a 50/50% chance of winning.

and thats not a problem, dopa?
The fact that only really good pilots fly the titan, and doing so puts them on par with average pilots isn't a problem?
There's nothing unbalancing about that?

Titan vs - Dopamino - 02-23-2008

I never gave any opinion on the situation, just my observations. I don't know what to think. On one hand, it's "unfair" for all the ships to be unbalanced. On the other, variety is good. If there's no variation between the ships, then fights become boring.

Titan vs - Equinox - 02-23-2008

Theres quite a few new guys that fly the Titan, quite allot of the new Brotherhood pilots are new-ish to Discovery/Freelancer and TBH is the first ever faction they join, what about them? should they be put in a disadvantage just because they choice to use RP correct ships?.

Titan vs - McNeo - 02-23-2008

That was a very wise answer Dopamino. Much more wisdom in those three lines than in my endless lines of text in this thread.

The problem that I see, for you to weigh up and decided if its big enough or not, is this one.

What other VHF can Corsairs fly, if they dont like the Titan? The Nepthys is the only other choice. It is even heavier and more cumbersome than the Titan. You dont need me to tell you what other VHFs Outcasts can fly.

I understand your arguement, without variation it become grinding such as in a MMO game.

What I wonder is why the Corsairs have to be the people who get the back end of variation. Someone has to be there, but it seems the Corsairs in all classes, to me...

EDIT: Plus what Equinox said.

Titan vs - Unseelie - 02-23-2008

My personal opinion, Is that the Titan needs another 4k health.
and yeah, that comes out to a whole extra mini hit when it gets a mk8 armour.
That way, it retains the corsair style of heavy tanks, with the added bonus of actually being able to tank. That makes it more akin to a bomber, and I consider that fine. I want to keep the variety, so my solution isn't to make it more like the Sabre, its to make it more different.

Well okay, as far as I know he doesn't have a Titan at the moment but this doesn't show that he was not good at commanding a Titan. Anyway, why do you think I had to leave the battle in Eta? Lost one of my wings after being targeted by the Sabre horde more than an hour. Didn't lose it too quickly maybe, but thats still painful since I had to suicide..

Titan vs - mjolnir - 02-24-2008

McNeo can you come with some way to solve it then...?
Oh.. btw. if you want a shield killer on torp slot use a mini then.. and practice with it ;)

- 4k extra health would be ok me thinks... so that you can actually use it like a tank
- agility boost would not be ok... beating a Titan in an Avenger would become very difficult (especially if the Titan has 2 Tizons or something along those lines)... and there are many other ships out there
- Sabre could get slightly decreased agility - it had some 1.14 in max. turn rate in 4.83.. now it has 1.225, (Titan had 1.048 and now it has 1.122).
Sabre could be taken down to 1.2 while keeping the same low mass + strafing.
Note that in raw numbers.. it looks like the difference is the same in both versions.... don't know if mass was changed also.

Titan vs - chopper - 02-24-2008

As I said, my personal opinion isn't that Titan needs an upgrade.
Corsairs need it, yes, but not the Titan.
Titan is totally different, and isn't made for fighting more agile ships.
Hopefully, you will get a new ship, or Centurion will get a boost.
Titan is hopeless and always will be hopeless against a Sabre.
It is actually very laughable that Corsair LF is less agile then Outcast VHF.
While Outcast LF has 1 extra gun (it almost can match the firepower of a HF), and is more agile then anything Corsairish (which Arwing isn't).
