Custom Battleships - Igiss - 03-07-2006 Freelancer has no carriers. And no faction would be able to collect a 16-20 ships strike force at one time, let alone it will cause immense lag. Every ship has to be self-sufficient in a way. So I see no problem that top-level fighters, especially bombers, may become trouble for battleships. Though I will reduce power of fighter anti-battleship weaponry. Custom Battleships - Retread - 03-07-2006 yep, lag is always an issue in multiplayer. True, there are no true carriers in Freelancer. (well, not in the SP game anyway). I've seen a mod that uses a "strike carrier". But, you dont see any ships coming out of it...period...(it's NPC btw) the fighters spawn right after the carrier passes by, giving the impression the fighters are launching off of it. Max number of fighters, gunboats and battleships I've counted so far in this scenario was about 18 units. I recall the biggest furball I've been in was somewhere around 12-18 fighters (gamers) not including npc's that got caught up in it....all going at it with missles and guns. We did something like this on one of the Vanilla Servers for the gaming clan [SFC] (Met and I are both part of the clan.. StarfleetCommand). Took us nearly 6 hours to finish the game.. we had unlimited respawn and half way through it we broke into groups and started pounding other players. Spilled from system to system till we went around the map (Rheinland, Bretonnia, Kusari, Liberty, Omegas, Sigmas, Taus...) Six hours and we went to bed. All ships equiped with low level weps... We can do it with the starfliers after the event. It would be fun.. Custom Battleships - Virus - 03-09-2006 I was thinking more like.... Smash the Starflier into the BS and you score. ;) You cause the Starflier to explode(without weapons), EXTRA POINTS!
