No use really.. most of them got nerfed with recycle time from 16.67 to 6.67.. And in that range, you can take anything else, right? However, I saw people packing purple goddess... 6.67, right? So.. I guess there aren't any chain guns anymore, eh?

Fighter chain guns are what solaris turrets should be for caps =(

Give solaris the same refire rate, 1500m/s speed, and 1k range, and it'll be much more effective =P

Ok I dont know anything about modding and maybe Im mistaken on some points:

Some one told m that people firing guns a lot causes more CPU usage or lag on the server. In that case... shouldnt especialy chain guns have a high power drain to discurage people from firing them continuously?

Another thing about high refire rate guns is most of them make a whole lot of annoying noise (espcially the suncannnon I think). Is it possible to change the noise to make it less anoying?

Also, the chainguns come in the crappiest colors... neon green and neeon purple.

Coolest chaingun in my eyes end ears:
-not a bright light source but kinda dark (like bullets.. not lasers, maybe like the black widdow?)
-sounds like a machinegun (with bass, not popgun sound like the tizonas), and not like the early 80s space invaders game (pew pew)
-had high strength and high powerdrain, so its fired in bursts and not continous streems (easier on the server and peoples nerves?)

I find the problem with chainguns are that they are too easy to dodge. A single firing projectile from a 4.00 gun fired at close range is rather difficult to dodge whereas a chaingun fired from range is cake.

Although perhaps against larger craft it might be good, fighter vs. fighter it's not all that great.

Are you trying to set a new record or something? With a topic this old... you might as well have made a new discussion.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, there are no class 9 chain guns, right? That could possibly be the reason for a lack of use of chain guns.

Very Heavy Fighters usually have four class 10 guns and two class 9 slots. If you put Goddesses in your class 10, then you have to put Wildfires in your class 9, which are underpowered in comparison to all class 9 weapons. You get a higher DPS by using all class 9 flashpoints than by using Goddesses and Wildfires. (Probably, I don't have FLstat on this computer so I can't check my facts.)

And Light Fighters have two class 8 and two class 9. Meaning if they use chain guns they have to use all Wildfires, again you'll probably get better DPS from Flashpoints.
