Well, it isn't exactly the same as the fwd gun in the current version of Discovery, but I did reduce it.

A small ship is not supposed to be able to take on a BS.

A group of fighters can take down a BS, but not a single one.

And no, the server still isn't up. The admin hasn't been online for quite a while either. =/

Hm for balance maybe remove Capital ship shields.
The npcs have no shields too, that adds fairness for fighter pilots who do hit and run tactics

would have to add more armor to the capital ships then, if you were to remove shields.

Removing shields would make travelling in asteroid fields more difficult, especially for the larger capitol ships. What I can do is make the shields strong enough to last in an asteroid field, but weak enough to be taken down by 2 or 3 fighters.

But, uh... I won't be making any changes to the mod until I find a new host. I haven't got any time to go looking for one at the moment. =/
