Setting official faction activity minimum at 48 hours? - Knjaz - 06-11-2012 ' Wrote:Cool Idea I would make it 60 hours and restrict everything above bomber for official factions only. Why there are no 60 hour option? I'd go the other way around, and restrict flying snubcraft for very high ranked members, on the frontline (if it's a House military, for example), along with other small ship restrictions. I really don't see a USA/Russia/China/whatever navy admiral putting himself into the patrol boat on the frontline, or into fighter/bomber, and going Leeerooooy Jeeeenkiiiins on the enemy lines. Because as it is now, restricting caps for officials only is same as removing them from the game. They often go "lolno, bring your cap somewhere else, we wantz a fair fight *dumbface* Not mentioning, that your.. proposition would make disco playerbase shrink alot. You took an admiral character into the game? Please, enjoy your armchair on the Flagship, not troll around in a fighter. As for "forum RP" comment, fully agree. Forums are optional. This is a game, a space shooting game, and while forum RP makes you look cool and all, in the eyes of people, it's NOT a forum-based game. By failing to meet 30 hour requirement, remove the official status. By failing to meet 48-60 (numbers are just an example) hour requirement, it does not automatically lose it's official status, but cannot prevent another faction with same ID from applying for officialty. So it can lose it's status if there will be an alternative. Setting official faction activity minimum at 48 hours? - JayDee Kasane - 06-11-2012 chance to get more activity? voting on Yes! Easy. (It was also SMI, not you.) Setting official faction activity minimum at 48 hours? - Friday - 06-11-2012 ' Wrote::rolleyes: Actually that is a good idea... Setting official faction activity minimum at 48 hours? - Knjaz - 06-11-2012 ' Wrote:Nope.avi Well, or that. But the time limit that is preventing other faction going official should be definitely higher. Also, the decision of making or not making a new faction official one should be based on the, let's say, (as an example) past 2 months, that would prevent things like "ohnoez we're being challenged let's log in more this month and then go into hibernation mode again". So if you're keeping yourself under the limit, you face a constant risk of losing officialty. Well, can add an option that allow currently official faction to compete even after the Officialty request from another party has been posted on forums (IF it'd get approved), but that will make things go too slowly, imho. Like, certain faction keeping itself under limit for 2, or 2-3, or 3 out of 4, whatever (numbers are an example) months, then there's a request by another worthy faction, then at least 2-, months to watch for the activity levels of currently official faction... that's 4 months already. And even that won't prevent em from spending *slightly* more time in-game for 2 months, if the limit will be low enough. Sometimes, individuals just don't have time to play. It's not as if they have a group gathering and say "let's all play less for the next month because no one is challenging our official status". There are always activity fluctuations during the year, which are influenced by holidays (more activity), school & university exams (less activity), and so on. If a majority of a faction is busy inRL, why penalise them for that? I reiterate that it is only fair to compare factions for active time when comparing two factions that are using the same ID. 30 hours of IMG activity is totally different from 30 hours of LN activity. A saying about apples and oranges comes to mind. I agree that a line has to be drawn somewhere, and I am in favour if it being closer to the 24 hour mark than raising it above 30 hours. Conversely, it would be more beneficial to reward factions for being more active, not punish them for being less active. Faction salary scaled according to days active, perhaps? For us smaller factions, its not like everyone has hours to spare each month, especially in a time such as this when there are exams and what not. The LN might not find it much of a problem, they have a large member base, but do you really want to cut out all of the little guys? What good will that do for the server? Not a lot if you actually think about it. I don't want to see it get to the point where it is like: "Right, study for X in this time, Y tomorrow, Z the next day, Oh, and ugh... I almost forgot. The day after that - so we can still be official after the exams/RL stuff - I have to play freelancer..." Its a game. Don't make it a job. Just stop throwing this excuse when you, people, have no arguments left. Or. Let's make a system where another faction can challenge current official status, after admins approve it, and they manage to be more active than the old one. I wonder how then you could stick this argument onto others who managed to gather more people or spend more time contributing to server gameplay. |
