If you're going to do Sol, dead or not, it has to be far, far away from Sirius. Probably in the direction of the Edge Nebula and probably accessed via the Nomad Dyson Sphere system.

Ideally, a string if big, unknown, uninhabited systems (two or three, if not more Newcastle sized) would be between the Dyson Sphere and the location of old Sol. Probably with no Human activity sans explorers. But there should be goodies hidden about said systems just to liven up the trip.

It's a sort of 'lost frontier' setting, if you get my point.

The coalition here is like a joke really. I meant the coalition houses / nations

........................... both of you just made me auto angry for no reason.

It did not take 800 years to make it to Sirius.

We're far behind the technology we had 800 years ago and in Sol.

I made a superfluous number '100 years" to point out the futility of trying.

Nobody said that.

Personally, I think people confuse player desire to visit Sol with character desire

There's not a person alive in Sirius or Gallia that has a true emotional connection to Sol. It's nothing but a chapter in the ancient history books. I reckon that beyond a minority of stellar cartographers, 'archeologists' & history buffs, Sirians & Gallics on the whole couldn't care less about the place as just about everything that defines their cultures evolved from the databases that came with them on their respective colony ships.

Sol...meh. Who needs it?

Yes it is the people that matter(Russians, Americans, German, British, etc), but what would take to RP a probe sent to Sol and "observe" what is happening there.

I figure an open RP participation thread would do the trick. It would allow people to explore the possibilities in character of what could be over there & not junk up the mod with another useless system

Not sure if the entire planets including their cores were destroyed or rather the only their atmoshperes blown of.

There could still be ruins, even if planet earth is now totally inhabtable. That could make an interesting system.

According to the long intro, the only survivor made it to Sirius to warn the colonists. That means the colonists should at least have interest in monitoring what happens in Sol after the nomads wrecked it. Like collect data on their superweapon and subsequent activities there and stuff. I believe the first version of the Order was formed because of the warning, so at least the Order should be interested in Sol.

Even if the governments arent interested in going back to Sol, it would make an interesting and atmospheric Eastereg system. A well hidden DKV hypergate could lead there.

Maybe it could even be turned into a now nomad system. Maybe the nomads settled there after they eliminated all humans there. They could have destroyed it simply to terraformed the wrecked planets to use them for their own goals.

That would be a hell of a lot more interesting and logical than Gallia anyways. (obligarory Gallia-bash)
