suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Athenian - 06-27-2008 //edit I was writing this before i saw your more recent posts. Dont want a flame war. Eternal, man, that is a harsh response, and I find it pretty hard to take being made the focal point of your pretty obvious distaste for BHers. I don't think I deserve it. Ignorant? Well, it's a long time since I was called that by anyone. Not a word I'd throw around lightly, but maybe that's just where I'm from. Here are the facts as far as I am aware: Darkwing are listed as official but there is nothing on the status thread. I aint with them. Ive met one of them ONCE, and that was last night, and he got involved in a fight when invited by another hunter. I was juimped by OPG in sig 13. Ive hunted them in the past. Theres a 5 mil bounty on their heads. I enjoy fighting them. I usually lose. I was in a manta. The DW was in a cap ship. He got killed by an OPG and Benitez bomber. The only thing people complained about was the lag. The SSO are in the status thread as official. Ive seen one online. I aint with them. Never had any contact with them. The BHL application is dead as far as I know. They did a few contracts for us. They tried to bring in new recruits, even asked a guy to leave because he was abusing the capships. The Ships with the [BH] tag in front I have encountered and wrote a pretty nasty diplomatic message to after a few run ins with them. http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17577 I have seen a load of other ships from time to time with BH- in front of their names. I have no contact with them. I refused to help one in a cruiser in New York when he squared off against smoq. Every time a BH capship shows up, all the valid targets run for it. I have better things to do with my time playing this game than try to police the issue of capships to all and sundry. It might be enforceable if I had a faction as well subscribed as one of the more popular ones but that's not to say it's what everyone would want. There is a register of Bounty Hunters set up by Robert Fitzgerald. We promote it as the place to register the credentials of all hunters. Many are in capships. you want me to write to all these poeople and ask them to clear off from the Houses? The CORE is also unofficial, as far as I know. They, if I am correct, are modelled on the Guild Core, which is the well financed branch of the Guild at war with the Order. I have seen them on occasionally, and I am considering a set up where by members of my group would be promoted to the Core, but i have to actually talk to the Core about this. That might bring some cohesion to the Guild. Note that I am contemplating sending members to another faction. I'm working on getting the S/D towards a request for official status, but I don't honestly think I will have the time to set up a faction that covers as much an area as the Guild. Plus people dont seem to want to join a BH faction. There are little benefits to being in one, and many disadvantages, if all you are interested in is stampeding around Sirius acting like Robocop. We dont fire on people unless there is a bounty on them or they fire on us first. As for the BCs in Omi 100. I said in my post that I wouldn't do something like that. That is my position on that. I'd appreciate if you didn't use me as a whipping boy for your grievances against other players. It's unfair. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - CCI45-px/Probe149 - 06-27-2008 ' Wrote:5. OORP Trade routes You forgot this Xeno Organism/vip run through the Corsair Omega space, a very "unfriendly" space. To stop the traders there, the OPG is either demanding half cargo, or some millions. And they do this everytime they meet the traders. I'm trying to get Kuraine to stop this "2-hours-protected-by-GC" thingy, so we could be more effective in disturbing the Trade through Chugoku/Hokkaido. And for the Chugoku thingy: I'm kinda wondering why they only come when no [HG]/NovaPG is online, may it have something to do with them stating they'll force everyone back to the systems they came from? suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Epholl - 06-27-2008 ' Wrote:Hey, even i've done that =P This is not that hard to explain: One of the gunstars, Moros was Doom being online after looooong time... Doom is an exeptional GB pilot. Another gunstar was my Moravia, which is my favourite ship and I try to be at least as good as 1/2 Doom. Out of the two vipers, one was a 2-3 years old vet and another one was a good fighter too, so we raped the Outcasts like a LN battleship rapes Xeno NPCs... Even worse thing was, that Outcasts did not regroup, all ships were coming one by one... What would you expect to happen in a fight like that? :D About your points: I do agree with 3, 5 and partially 4. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Tenacity - 06-27-2008 ' Wrote:This is not that hard to explain: I think we're talking about different battles here, there were no gunboats or anything on the CR side during the fight I was in - I think they just had 5 vipers. I was ticked off big time after that battle. We had like 4-5 sabres, I think three falcatas, a rogue gunboat, and even an outcast destroyer fighting on the outcast side... Gunboat died. Couple sabres died. Destroyer died. I died. Only one viper was down by that point... that's just pathetic flying on the outcast side of things. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Scaramanga - 06-27-2008 Quote:Battleship licenses need to be removed from all vendors and made available by admin approval only, like terrorist and specialty ID's (nomads, wild, etc). Battleships should only be given to player faction leaders, or experienced players who have proven their worth here - like Gafwmn, Isabelle Kaitlyn, and Au'rora (eternal). These players have shown that they have extremely good RP ability, and follow the rules and their zone of influence. The same cannot be said for 90% of the people out there using capships right now. I think this is the only way that will actually work.. Admins withdraws all BS licenses and then give every official factionleader a couple of licenses that they are responsible of giving to those who should be given one. If they should run out they could always ask the admins for more.. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Reverend Del - 06-27-2008 ' Wrote:I think this is the only way that will actually work.. Admins withdraws all BS licenses and then give every official factionleader a couple of licenses that they are responsible of giving to those who should be given one. If they should run out they could always ask the admins for more..No, No, No. Watch the cronyism and rampant nepotism run wild! If you can agrauntee me that every single one of my fellow faction leaders could be impartial enough to make this work fairly, then sure go ahead with it. But until then I wouldn't trust them, or me, not to corrupt that power. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Tenacity - 06-27-2008 Most official faction leaders are responsible enough to handle it. Still, gunboats would be available to all players from the factions that produce them. If you want a capship without having to appeal to a faction or the admins, go with a gunboat. This only restricts cruisers and battleships. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Jinx - 06-27-2008 hm - tenacity, what about factions that do not have a playerfaction that claims to be the whole of the faction ( meaning - leaving the NPC faction ID still free for all ) - namely the BHG. - no faction has the roleplay background to justify to limit ships - who would be installed there - and ... there is still the concern i wrote in the beginning about faction leaders being allowed that power. such a issue is much more complex than a simple "i tell you that you can use it or i kill you when you use it without my approval". what about faction leaders that do not want to take the responsibility to judge over others - will you force them to do it? - when thinking about all that - one must think to the very end of it. restricting warships is only the beginning.... who will deal with the consequences - who will take a blame when it goes wrong? - what steps will be done when the majority simply ignores such rules, what will be done when a leader turns out to be powerhungry. who will judge over the factions, who will judge over the leaders? - thats all questions that are not answered here yet. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Dusty Lens - 06-27-2008 For the purposes of this exercise let's extend the official faction's governance to gunboats. suggestions to stop the pvp and capwhoring - Jinx - 06-27-2008 of course gunboats are capital ships - i never understand why ppl leave them out. they are classified capital ships in ID cards and game lore. - totally lost why ppl like to "keep them easy to get" when at the same time they want to lock destroyers out. anyway - the whole discussion is totally pointless - sort of. since its already been said officially, - that no official restriction or administration will come into effect about getting any kind of capital ship - other than a high price and a limitation of one battleship / player. but i guess discussing it will keep the brain warmed up and ready for really important discussions. |
