RE: Peoples mentality about Piracy demands baffles me.. - Curios - 05-20-2013 We're talking about the usual things. It's just borderline example of actual losses even if the full value is taken away in order to speak about lesser demands. People are going ballistic when asked for 5 millions for cargo worth 10 millions. People are not going ballistic to loose all cargo while being killed. Even more, they are happy for some reason. The only reason in that situation is that Pirate got nothing too. Which is simply jerk as Spazzy is trying to show. If i'm getting it right. Traders around NY, Omegas, Taus, Sigmas, Rheinland, Gallia, Bretonia.... its all the same... I cant speak for kusari and deep omicrons, mostly cuz kusari is dead and deep omicrons is a "red is dead" place RE: Peoples mentality about Piracy demands baffles me.. - Prysin - 05-20-2013 as an old member of Sails, i can also confirm that if you pirate as a corsair, 100k or 100m is treated in the same way, IE: silent running and screaming in every emergency skype chat known to man. Perhaps it happens because people are not fine with spliting their profits 1:1 with random guy they just met who typed 8 letters, while its far from guranteed they will profit themselves. Asking for 1/2 profit means you just earned no less than what guy worked 30mins for. If people payed even regular 2mils, pirate profit will be far bigger than traders.(granted, you can track people with chat list) 1/2 is quite greedy. Also, im all against piracy being considered income on-par with trading. Trading SHOULD be more profitable cause its boring. What I meant is people have certain ...mindset... that results in "half profit" demands being totaly unaceptable. Just for the sake of that particular example. Ok 1 question here. In RP how does the pirate know what the cargo is worth at sell point, and where the sell point is? Also what about RP cargo's. For example my ALG hauls waste only, so why would any pirate want me to dump waste in his system? Or why would a garbage hauler even have any money to pay a pirate In RP? I take each encounter as how the Pirate approuches me, and how he RPs. 2mil or dai, and they start firing? Get nothing. I fight back, or run, and upon death dump/shoot cargo. They RP well, and i have given out 5 times what cargo is worth, just for the good RP/fun. Then there are the fools that start shooting before you can even type a response. We all know they are just cowards looking for an easy blue message from a trader,as they suck to much to fight a combat ship. Just for the sake of that particular example. "Normally" a company would pay from the home office, as captains are just captains and nothing more. Simple employees of the company without millions in their pockets. So the money paid in piracy basically isn't from the vessel itself. So yes, a ALG transport can pay a pirate as the ALG home office would pay, and is probably also insured. As for an ALG vessel, it's still a massive transport and not one of your regular trucks on the road. RE: Peoples mentality about Piracy demands baffles me.. - Ceoran - 05-20-2013 Generalization is never going to improve any given situation. By the same token I could claim that all pirates are lolwuts. They are not even though a notable amount in fact is. And another notable amount of pirates interprets any attempt to get into a conversation as an attempt to stall the pirate and does not show any interest in anything but money either. Pirates as a whole, like all other groups on disco, are far from being the innocent bunch. But to go along with the provided examples: liner vs 2M demand? not a big deal. If the pirate is an actual threat to my ship, I'll pay up. As the demand rises I'll start haggling because liners really don't generate much money. They do however provide excellent defensive capabilities to allow you to run for the next base while putting some fire on the pirate should negotiations fail. Flying into the sun? Fair game if the pirate is in a snub. Transports can stand the radiation quite a bit longer. If they just fly there to die there: Where's your problem? If they do that during combat it's still a loss and 2h break for them. Same as if you'd have killed them. They'll only 'achieve' anything over you if you actually care about your name being printed in the blue message or not. Emergency chats? Hell yes. Police and Navy want something to do as well. If you don't want their attention but get some money: go trade yourself. that way you can show how it should be done from your perspective. And you'll be quite surprised I'm sure. RE: Peoples mentality about Piracy demands baffles me.. - Swallow - 05-20-2013 Guys, reading all this makes me sad... It just appears (from your words) that the server is full of blue-message hunters and silent runners... No really, you are talking about this like about a tragedy, while this conversation leads to nowhere, because the people, you mention here are not going to read this all. Why? Why do you do it? Why don`t you play? Simply play. It is a game, it is a RP game, why do you keep complaining of the stuff that is not a RP? Why would you bother? |
