03/11/835 - Unioner group encounter, Texas system

While on night duty, I was conducting another overflight of the Texas system when I received an emergency message coded with LSF code regarding the presence of a large group of Unioner ships moving through Republic territory. The message indicated that the group consisted of numerous ships of varying tonnage, primarily cruisers. Local defense forces and patrols, of which I was a part, were dispatched to the scene as a tactical group.

Upon arrival, it was determined that the signal indeed corresponded to an LSF ship, and the transmitted data was authentic: the group of ships was indeed impressive and included several Hel-class ships. During the brief engagement, some of the enemy forces retreated, presumably to Bering, while others were destroyed in the North Dallas Debris Field.

The video file and the black box footage are attached below. Judging by the size of the force, the Unioners could pose a significant threat to the Republic in the Texas system, given Liberty's growing tensions with the Kusari Empire. This could lead to an unnecessary drain on resources in the long term, so I'm asking command to pay attention to this situation proactively.

Joint anti-terrorist operation in Liberty, report: Pennsylvania and Texas - 03/11/835 A.S.

I was on routine patrol in my Upholder in New York, before receiving an emergency message from my superior officers requesting fire support. Allegedly, a fleet of Unioner terrorists was operating in Liberty. I answered immediately and hopped in my Upholder and took off from West Point after a quick check-up of my ship to make sure it was operating at 100%.

I joined up with other officers; higher graded ones, and I saw something quite unusual. At least for me. A fleet of Unioner capital ships; comprised of Hel-class pirate cruisers, and various snubs, covering for Pilgrim-class liners. I have also seen a Hacker ship, but it seemed that they bailed out quickly. As I was focused on reducing the shields of these pirate cruisers, I couldn't identify the hacker ship properly.

The engagement continued into Texas as they, I believe, "ran for the border" and get back to Rheinland. I continued providing fire support for my fellow officers after being ordered to, which I did. I continued to engage the pirate cruisers, and assisted my superiors in putting them out of action. The Pequena Negra cloud of dark matter made the fight quite difficult, as, from what I observed, they were continuing to protect the Pilgrim-class liners.

I have extensively damaged the Hel-class pirate cruiser UN|-Engel at a rate of 31%, as seen in the second attached document infra.. I then pulled back as the last capital ship of this Unioner flotilla was being neutralized by my fellow officers. Me and another officer decided that it was better to be on the sidelines, and most importantly; be ready if our officers needed help in any capacity. I have taken the liberty of adding spaces for the destroyed ships picked up by the computer of my ship in the Blackbox data below for ease of reading.

The result was that the Unioner terrorist flotilla was neutralized, though I suspect some ships managed to flee. Including that Hacker ship. I believe this operation, a joint anti-terrorist operation between the First Fleet, the 46th, and the Secondary Fleet's officers was a success. I do not know what those Pilgrim-class liners were carrying, but I doubt it is for the good of Liberty. Following the end of the operation, I flew back to West Point after a short stop at Planet Houston to repair my ship and rearm, in case of another emergency.

Scott L. Bradley, out.

California Patrol Report: - 01/02/836 A.S

This report is a summary of my findings during a routine patrol through the main artery from West Point through to the Cortez Jump Gate within the California system.

Initially embarked the lanes solo initially with my Defender and arrived at Planet Los Angeles. I initially conducted a sweep of the trade lane as far as the Cortez gate, though on my return to Los Angeles I noticed ALG Eisenstadt which appeared to be coming from the Sierra Ice field. As it passed my ship, I managed to catch a scan of its cargo which was a full load of Counterfeit Computerware. Unfortunately it was headed down the trade lane to the Cortez jump gate so I was unable to give chase.

Though with the relevant evidence captured I also decided a pursuit wasn't really required as both the transponder and the cargo were captured in the guncam footage.

I returned to rendezvous with my cruiser Oakland and returned to Los Angeles for another patrol, later I was joined by the Waimea where I shared my latest discovery, agreeing we can essentially deal with this via the usual protocols. Hence the filing of this report. I was later involved in an action with hostile forces however due to the critical damage sustained to my vessel, all footage and recordings of the engagement were lost in a strange twist of fate.

The Oakland is currently at Norfolk shipyard undergoing the necessary repairs. I will return to patrol once the necessary repairs have been completed.

Daniel White, Signing off.

New York Patrol Report: - 02/02/836 A.S

While conducting a routine patrol circuit of the New York System, I flagged the "LNS-Normandy" disengaging clamps at Norfolk.
We exchanged pleasantries - brief and professional - before burning hard for Sector Grid E4. Mission Command had tagged a Liberty Rogue installation, and it needed to be dismantled.

I held my ground against the swarm of enemy smallcraft, acting as a hard-point screen for the Overlord-class "LNS-Normandy", engaging the enemy smallcraft and redirecting their attention towards me.
My priority was intercepting heavy ordnance and elimination of hostile assets. I made sure this beautiful Overlord-class stayed pristine. We did not stop until every hostile in the vicinity was scrap.

Otter, over and out.

A brief recount of todays engagement.

We received a call to respond to a significant terrorist gathering adjacent to Fort Bush in the New York system. The vessels involved were largely flagging a mixture of Task Force Prometheus colors along with a few intermixed Technocracy pilots, plus a Lane Hacker Gunship.

We linked up with the TFA LNS Reprisal and it screening assets who had already arrived on station. On this particular occasion it made more sense for that vessel to be the command ship due to its superior firepower and sensor systems. I had my cruiser Oakland act as a screening asset and provide fire support against the heavier assets fielded by the Prometheans.

The hostile forces also had an array of fighter craft ships screening the Incursus along with a gunship. Although as the fighter craft were typical of their forces in the shape of Prosecutors, I did not document the individual callsigns for that vessel type.

Key targets of note:
  • TFP)-HFB-Incursus - Osiris Class Battleship
  • O>)OCS_Tochigi - Bustard Class Carrier.
  • TFP)-HFGB-Arondight - Bounty Hunter Gunship
  • );--Misconfig - Lane Hacker Gunship.

All of the above heavy-type vessels were disabled in the engagement. Oakland sustained no damage, however expended some of her ammunition stores in the engagement. Reprisal appeared to sustain significantly more damage in the encounter however was still fully operational.

We returned to base once the heavy assets were dispatched leaving our remaining fighter craft to deal with the two remaining hostile fighters, deciding our presence there was no longer required.

Daniel White, Signing off.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

Lieutenant Amelia Hale

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

1. Summary. On 142000(Z)FEB836, the crew of the gunboat LNS-Cowpens and myself conducted a patrol of Liberty. Two notable events occured while on patrol: Firstly, a new Militant capital ship running the transponder O>)OCS_Tochigi was seen IVO West Point Military Academy, New York System. Initial scans classed this ship as a Bustard Class carrier, however it was quick to evade contact and moved into the Badlands. Further pursuits did not regain contact with the vessel. Analysis of the craft's behavior indicates it may be acting as a key logistics and C2 node for militant forces operating in New York and Pennsylvania. Secondly, the Cowpens encountered a large Bristol convoy in the Pennsylvania system in company of a Bounty Hunter and Zoner. We escorted the traders successfully to Bering, where the large convoy moved to Rheinland space. All cargo scans returned negatives for contraband and no laws were violated during the flight.

2. Logs are attached to this report in Annex A.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

Cadet Donbastio Whitaker

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

Reporting Officer: [LN]-D.Whitaker
Wingman: [LN]-Morgan.Creed
System: Pennsylvania

I commenced a routine patrol flight with my wingman beginning in the Pocono Asteroid Field at the New York Jumpgate, proceeding toward Bethlehem Station following reports of militant activity in the region.

Upon approach to Bethlehem Station, multiple hostile vessels engaged us without warning. During the engagement we confirmed their affiliation with a militant movement operating in the system. The hostile vessels were neutralized and we continued our patrol route toward Philadelphia Station, where no immediate threats were detected.

Shortly after arrival, we intercepted a distress communication from LSF pilot LSS|Spirit, reporting Technocracy forces operating in orbit of Planet Erie. We set course to the transmitted waypoint and rendezvoused with the LSF pilot. Scanner contacts identified three hostile vessels with the callsigns:

TFP)-Djarg.Ralar
TFP)-Bellamy.Crowe
TFP)-Firebrand

Following a brief tactical standby, we initiated engagement. During the initial exchange we successfully destroyed TFP)-Djarg.Ralar, however my wingman sustained critical damage and was forced to eject. I secured his escape pod and continued combat operations.

Additional hostile contact TFP)-Locksmith appeared on scanners shortly thereafter, while the assisting LSS pilot was forced to disengage due to system failures. Attempting withdrawal toward Planet Erie for emergency repairs, I was pursued by a Xenos-affiliated pilot entering the battlespace.

Reinforcements arrived in the form of LSF pilot LSS|Vrihedd, who provided cover for emergency repairs on Planet Erie. Shortly afterward, LSS|Redhawk joined the operation. With forces regrouped, we returned to the conflict area and located remaining Technocracy and Xenos elements engaged in combat.

Upon our arrival, the Xenos pilot disengaged. I entered sustained combat with TFP)-Bellamy.Crowe and achieved confirmed destruction of the hostile vessel. Concurrently, LSS|Vrihedd intercepted and eliminated an additional Technocracy pilot identified as Choctaw.

With hostile presence reduced and no further contacts detected, I withdrew to Planet Erie to report the incident and transfer the recovered escape pod of my wingman to medical authorities.

Confirmed Kills:

TFP)-Djarg.Ralar
TFP)-Bellamy.Crowe

(Guncam footage confirming destruction of hostile vessels attached.)

Patrol Report Summary: - 20/02/836 A.S

I conducted my patrol today starting at West Point to the California Jump Gate. Returning once I received word from a security forces agent that they had intended to conduct a sweep in the Pennsylvania system. Looking to improve our agency cooperation I decided to link up with them. These units consisted of primarily LSS assets, Spirit and Adair-1 were present. Later joined by 46th fleet pilot Bo Mclow.

On rallying in Pennsylvania two hostile contacts were identified in the shape of two Militant Prosecutor class fighters. Spirit immediately decided to break an attack and I naturally followed. After a few minutes of exchanging fire with the hostile contacts, 46th pilot Bo Mclow requested to switch places in combat. I agreed. Spirit destroyed the target Romeo-5 some moments later. I sustained no damage in the encounter.

After a few more moments of observing the ongoing engagement with the remaining contact Anticitizen, I decided with the now two LSF agents and Mclow on station, my presence was no longer required and returned to the Oakland to continue my patrol.

From then on I proceeded to Colorado and then to Texas to conduct a border sweep. No further hostile contacts were detected. No violations of the Colorado embargo were detected.

Hostile Contacts Summary:
  • Romeo-5 - Prosecutor Very Heavy Fighter (Confirmed destroyed)
  • Anticitizen - Prosecutor Very Heavy Fighter.

After Action Report: - 03/03/836 A.S

Today I personally conducted a patrol through Pennsylvania aboard LNS Phoenix. The route from West Point to my patrol path within Pennsylvania resulted in a few skirmishes with Rogue pilots within the system. Although nothing particularly out of the ordinary for that time of day. My patrol was sought to run a shakedown trial of Phoenix and to iron out any possible operational issues, I sought to oversee this personally.

However after expending some of our ammunition stores to reserve level, I opted to return to Norfolk at this stage to resupply and debrief with the maintenance specialists on what was learned. Unfortunately on exiting the Jump Gate into New York, we were set upon by initially two Outcasts by the names of Chenzo and Diego. Two very heavy fighters. Knowing I was likely about to be swarmed, my initial tactic was relatively passive. I needed to stall for time to plot a route through the Badlands to reach West Point, knowing I'd need to do this with a relative bearing only due to local interference.

After a few more moments of listening to the exterior chatter, my radar operator indicated to me we had yet another contact on the scope. Yet another Outcast strike craft of the fighter variety. This time named D.I.E.OTAN. This one didn't seem all that interested in chatting, unsurprisingly, and immediately declared its intent to open fire, to which it did. Although one alone was no threat to Phoenix and her shielding. However this fell within my prediction, we had been cornered in a hostile environment against agile fighter craft, largely able to out manoeuvre our heavier armaments.

A few moments more passed and the two other fighter craft decided to break an attack. At this stage I ordered my helmsmen all ahead flank into the Badlands, at the same time I had my CIC return fire aft with every point defence gun and flak battery that could be brought to bear. From then on we fought a very tight running gun battle through the asteroids within the Badlands, trying to keep the fighter craft from landing hits. Unfortunately after enough sustained fire, our shielding failed, however the armour astern was holding. I ordered to continue rapid fire and maintain speed. Our advantage was the Interdictors speed in this particular engagement.

Once we finally cleared the Badlands, West Point was off to our port bow, at which stage an Outcast Gunship named Santiago Salvador appeared off our starboard beam, again it declared its intent to attack. Now we were clear of the Badlands I raised a call for reinforcements, as the fast attacking craft were starting to overwhelm our point defence guns and our munition stocks were nearly dry. One vessel, D.I.E.OTAN which we severely damaged with our heavy battery earlier in the engagement, had withdrawn and at this point had returned to attack us. I decided to make a stand and started rapid combat manoeuvres which landed several heavy blows to the attacking gunship, our flak batteries continued to suppress the fighter craft.

Though to my relief, Lieutenant Amelia Hale soon arrived on the scene. She signalled the bridge and I responded that we needed assistance fighting off the strike craft, Amelia opened the attack despite essentially being outnumbered three to one. I ordered my helmsman to run at the Gunship to drive it off now that Amelia had forced an opening in their attack. We exchanged fire with this craft until finally Phoenix' heavy battery destroyed the gunship. I then ordered the point defence guns to attempt to cover the Lieutenant, by which stage 46th pilot Callum Hayes had arrived to assist her.

By this late stage in the combat, with critical munition levels and being rendered combat ineffective by the more nimble fighters, I stood our guns down in fear of friendly fire. Unfortunately Amelia was forced to eject due to suffering extensive damage in her heroic attempts to defend the Phoenix, including inflicting considerable damage during a pass at the gunship. I can confirm we recovered her escape pod and returned her safely to West Point after the action was concluded. My personal observation is that her bravery considering the odds was outstanding, she has truly upheld the standards of First Fleet within this action.

Three hostile contacts were neutralised, the final two fighters were taken down by Hayes. The fourth, Diego, appeared to scarper as the third Outcast pilot was shot out of the sky. I'll detail their callsigns and classes below. The action commenced at 23:00 hours and lasted until 23:38 hours on 02/03/836. Phoenix has returned to Norfolk to re-arm and repair.

Hostile Contacts Summary:
  • Diego-[OG] - Outcast Very Heavy Fighter - Fled
  • Chenzo-[OG] - Outcast Very Heavy Fighter - Confirmed Destroyed
  • D.I.E.OTAN - Outcast Fighter - Confirmed Destroyed
  • Santiago Salvador - Outcast Gunship - Confirmed Destroyed
