Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Thyrzul - 05-25-2012 So far I haven't got pirated by cruisers yet, despite hauling cargo like daily (okay, sometimes I may miss a day, and I don't fly whole day, but I usually get my daily 25-50 mil profits at least). The only pirating being occured with me were snubs and once a Benitez transport, kudos for him by the way. Just some personal experiences. Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - LeafyVegetable - 05-26-2012 NO. Just NO. What the hell, effectively getting killed in a transport means done for the day now? What if I was killed in my base system, then I can't even move to another route. Quote:This is a trial for the next few weeks and may be changed further or possibly reverted.I sure hope it's reverted. Or something more reasonable like 30minutes. Otherwise, we're going to have a massive massive cap cat and mouse game. Hope there are enough lawfuls to hold space. Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Daedric - 05-26-2012 It has been two weeks since this went live. I've not seen any massive increase in cap spam or cap piracy. Something tells me the hype is similar to the y2k hype and this whole Mayan calendar stuff. Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Ursus - 05-26-2012 I've seen plenty of it. I've killed a few corsairs in the Omega7-London chain, and there's even an Outcast destroyer parked at FP1. There was a rogue dessie in Penn killing the low-levels this morning. I wouldn't say that it's been a huge amount, but it's certainly there. Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Hielor - 05-26-2012 The biggest change for me has been from the perspective of my pirate characters. When I'm flying around in a cruiser pirating, it's a completely different feeling than fighter/bomber/gunboat piracy. When I'm in a cruiser, I feel like I don't need to think at all about what I'm doing, since I have a guaranteed win against any transport and I can ignore fighters/bombers/gunboats long enough to get pretty much anywhere I want to go. Compare this to pirating in a fighter, bomber, or gunboat--you always need to keep an eye out for lawfuls showing up to get a piece of your hide, and you need to be careful about transports, too, as a good transport pilot can make things hard for you. Allowing cruiser piracy makes the risk to the pirate essentially zero. Aren't there supposed to be no "zero-risk" activities for solo players in this game? Certainly, trading isn't zero-risk...why is piracy now allowed to be zero risk? Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Spoon.Train - 05-26-2012 The amount of 10 million or die pirates asking such things from my armored transport are steadily increasing. Good thing it can take on a lone pirate bomber and win. Out of his ZoI, so he can't do much there. Thank you for that statement. Interesting to see that it's not one boring on the receiving end of the demand. And I agree fully: "Near-to-zero-risk" activities should always involve teamplay, good organisation and numbers. Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Thyrzul - 05-26-2012 Idea: Set cruisers to be able to mount reinforced CDs only, maybe? Rules update 5.7 6.6 6.7 - Guyton - 05-26-2012 ' Wrote:Thank you for that statement. Interesting to see that it's not one boring on the receiving end of the demand. Roleplay still kills the idea of a pirate using a cruiser or battleship in pirating. Every pirate wants a quick in/out scenario using anything that is quick, agile, and power. Larger factions I could understand seeing a transport being taxed for entering the omicrons/omegas without escort. House space as well as bordering systems would be completely secured from outer threats especially any House at war with another. Can a one man pirate a transport without a teammate? Sure why not its not impossible at all. Would a pirate if able use a capital ship with armor, hardened crew, military grade weaponry , and advanced technology such as cloak would even bother robbing a transport near House space, which would require managing to get their undetected? The larger the ship the larger pirates will demand it is just common sense. It would require more credits to maintain sufficient supplies however would a simple employee carry that many credits? Tends to draw out capital use more than simple fighters if anything. |
