Sad news.
When I've started playing on the server Benitez was the first official faction I was exposed to. And first faction to learn how interact in roleplaying environment.
In my eyes they were ones who shaped Corsair lore and added up a lot to it's complexity together with other two corsair factions. As official faction which covered foreign affairs, diplomacy, politics and culture led corsairs to be viewed as entire house with it's own people in all it's complexity, rather than just pirates or soldiers.
These are the reasons why I enjoy playing corsairs the most. And probably, a big part of that enjoyment comes from the influence you had on Corsair NPC faction.
So thank you.

EX-TBH here. Sadto see you guys lose your official status. We may have not seen eye to eye in the past but the Benitez were one of the best RPing factions in Gamma. I hope your activity rises again so you can continue to exist

Damn shame. Benitez had some of the best players and RP I've ever seen, and it was a privilege to be associated (thru TBH) with you guys back in the day. I'm glad you'll be sticking around.

Yes, its sad Benitez is losing its official status, but nowadays its much better to be unofficial I suppose. Good that you guys are not disbanding, just going unofficial...
But: several people are talking and even RPing as if the Benitez had disbanded and no longer exists or has any saying on the council of elders on crete... I think you guys should be more explicit to say that you still are part of crete's government, you did not ceased to exist!
As a Zoner and an indie corsair its is nice to meet you around the omicrons... Hope to see you around more again... Best of luck!

Hm, well - not going to hate on these people- but those people who rp as the benitez being disbanded, fallen from power/whatever:

this is one prime example of meta and powergaming!i know for sure it is not with ill intend or anything - but so far, inRP nothing and absolutely nothing happened to the Benitez or the Corsair council of elders!
=>so for the record, once again - yes we (as in the council of elders) are crashing our heads together right now, added more indies to the mix, poked a lot of people who care about the Corsair rp and faction and so on - we are currently discussing how to proceed with the faction as a whole - and as soon(if) things change you guys will know and it will be played out inRP.
We, as Benitez familia also stick our heads together if there is any inRP change for us, this might depend a little on the CoE results, but again, the rp connected to it will be played out and we will not let our rp being dictated to what people think in their head is our rp
So, to sum it up - nothing has changed, but when it changes it will be clear and it will be properly rped out as well

The majority of the Benitez family is wondering if the admin team is going to officially confirm our request/decision. We've not seen any action yet regarding our disco GC forum space or our activity tracker thus realistically we can't be sure this message made it to the great admin overlords desk.
Whilst we had one current admin make a personal remark in this thread we'd like some official confirmation. Preferably in a nice coloured font so that we can stop worrying if we got our message across...

We usually give factions a couple of weeks to tidy up and get their stuff sorted before going in for the cold-hearted tag & bag action, cause after all, we might be a cruel bunch, but not cruel enough to have at it before the faction's even cold. Tasteless jokes aside though, I was going to contact you about it sometime this week, but if you bunch already have your stuff packed, I'll take care of it this evening. Thanks for letting us know.
