I admit, it would be a little more interesting if not everybody had credits like they do now.
Although it's not like we can merely take away what people have.. Oh well.

Exactly my thoughts.

I have 6 battleships, four 5ker transports, and the occasional bomber and fighter. The battleships are mostly fully equipped with bs scanners and CAU8, and some with Jumpdrive IV's. Even though I don't play, I log in on my characters to keep them from wiping. Some of my ships are years old.

And in cash...let's just say I could buy all of my assets from myself and some more. I need to count them.

Why don't you start with the deletion of all that ostentatious stuff? Big Grin

From what I see here , it is important whom do you know, not how rich are you!

Well I don't need two freelancer games running to transfer equipment.
Soo I guess am lucky.

Two Battleships, one CAU8, one CAU6.
One Gunboat, CAU7 (Yes, I actually bought one of those because it allowed me to fit a Docking Module on an Irra alongside it).
Two UAU8 5kers.
Way too many snubs to list.

Probably about three billion or so in total value.

About one billion in liquid cash.

I'm still broke, though.

RE: How rich are you? - Pavel - 02-17-2014

To be fair...Unless someone makes dozens of CAU8 caps like mad...There's no way single person (not speaking about factions maintaing bboards, licenses and such stuff) would ever need more than 1, max 2 billions.

There's technically no way to spend that amount of cash.

RE: How rich are you? - QuinnZai - 02-17-2014

Got about 20 CAU6's, no CAU8's because I don't know and 2 BS scanners.
In total, I have about 4 billion in credits and about 6 billion in assets. Could be more but voted on the 5-10 Billion range.

RE: How rich are you? - Jack_Henderson - 02-17-2014

I didn't know that ships/armor, etc also count.
If they do, I'd have to be in the "10 billions +" section.
If only real money counts, I am in the 1-5 billion.

and ye, it is more than one can spend, really.

I am all for server wipe and total rebalance of the economy since there are a way too much easy generated cash without any proper things to waste it on.

That would be quite fun. And interesting too.

Though it would probably take quite the time for official factions to show up. Currently everyone and their mom can toss these 500 millions

Interesting indeed,

On other communities (not FL, but still where stuff is worth something), every once and a while the server gets reset. It can be quite the pain if you had built something from ground up, but in the long run I can't complain. It's always kind of cool to start fresh with new ideas. I'm not sure how this would fit in with Discovery, as it would put someone's work down the drain, and considering that the world isn't as dynamic as in the other communities I had in mind.

Quote: have enough to play my role here...

Exactly.

I realize many of you may come from more Socialist or even former (or current) Communist states...so the idea of accumulating wealth may make you uncomfortable, but I'm very confused by this notion of "too much wealth" and "too many credits" etc.

A lot of people earn their money one way or another, or they had some given to them. In the case of the former...why wouldn't they be entitled to keep what they've put the work into earning? And in the case of the latter....who is to say who should be in charge of telling you what to do with your money?

Are we gonna start having Estate Taxes here on Disco? Maybe just wipe out everyone's money, altogether? Then what? People will work hard again (probably more power-trading than anything else...which everyone loves *sarcasm*) to make their money...only to have people whine about how much money they have and then we're back where we started.

Other thing to consider: people can put more time/effort into RP when they're not grinding to get the ship/equipment they want.

Otherwise, why bother doing ANYTHING at all if someone is just gonna complain and you'll see all your time/effort thrown out the window?

Final thought: If you feel guilty about how much money you have...why don't you start giving it away, instead of trying to make everyone feel as guilty as you do? Charity is a good thing.

RE: How rich are you? - Nightingale - 02-17-2014

I've got about 500-600 m, and it's taken me the better part of 3-4 years to get to that level, since I tend to spend it on character concepts... About 80% of all my characters are traders, though I prefer to RP and haven't really grinded credits since 4.84, so I usually end up around the 500m mark before spending it all on some barely thought-through idea I come up with on the fly.

RE: How rich are you? - Birdtalon - 02-17-2014

Having money in this game is pretty much directly related to how long you want to grind for. The only level of skill involved in making money is finding a good route, after that it's just all monotonous.
