The originators felt embarrassed by all their sins and tried to find a sacred cow called "A legitimate role play reason to exist" but via guilt and disillusionment of the mod, the community, and their long long time there couldn't find a storyline they found fun so the decided to kill it.
Despite having provided many terrorising moments in space for traders and lawfuls and unlawful alike the community rp bigheads managed to stick their parasitical nonsense into the community meta and to this day we suffer.
That and I think they got tired of pew because no one would cy- rp with them despite almost every character in the phooms having a decent and rich background in an of itself.
The admins quickly abided the wishes to have assets locked down (not deleted) because 4 people on the other 2 servers that have activity on disco still have phantoms.
My accounting for history might be blurry. Phooms in short fell to the known cycle of novelty that exsists here. New things fade out arent so new anymore.. not as much fun. until its literally too painful to play the game.

Oh now there is a vote for none. Well too late, I already voted for the one I thought was the least ridiculous but if I could recast that vote, it would be none. Screw the phantoms. Ain't nobody got time for that.
