Questions on the latest "Administrator Notice" - El Nino - 01-06-2009

Meh i wholehartedly disagree with this new turn in faction privilages... now Bs|is by definition an elite wing of order forces. So it should behave as such...

But Let's say LH (stands most likeley for Lane Hackers) should have supreme control over all lane hackers. It should be almost required to join a faction to own their most expensive ships.

This is how i envision things. You want to be a freelancer indy inside a faction? Sure you can fly every fighter every bomber, perhaps gunboat. But if there exist a real faction, system owning on and so forth... You would be required to join it and meet their demands for owning that covated cap.

I'll be damned if it's in the best roleplay or intrest of the gaming community if anyone can just strole in LH guard system and buy a Spyglass and then take it to omicrons and fight off Corsairs...

There should be some drawback for this. Perhaps factions would have to pay a few billion credits to get privilage over all their cap ships. I really don't see indies flying large capships of factions with established leadership. I mean why on earth would LN just release their battleships to anyone?

There should be a rule... x.x.: Every purchase of a capital ship should be endorsed by the official faction that owns those ships.

There should be some restriction to what can a faction ask in return from you. Perhaps you would have to wear a tag, LH-i (lane hacker indy), some kind of roleplaying test, one should not be allowed to demand money from indies to buy it. Perhaps requiring indies to bring in resources hull panells and such to construct it, might be required. One can get very creative with that and I think it is in our best intrest to limit cap ships.

Nothing is more tiresome than a destroyer cruising up to your behind and start blasting, one could be out all day reporting the mute engagements and play very little,... and after all would be sorted, capwhores would come in with "Engaging Santa" and after that they would even be void of sanctions, without a noticable increase in roleplay quality.

There should be a test, wich factions would then enforce, to possible future owners of capital ships.

Finally someone speaks of something like this again. And I again state my 90 % agreement with the claims here. Although yes, I AM aware the next poster will probably be against this, offer some sort of argument or just call Jure a FL Faschist. I for one think this is a smart idea.

Enter 'against this' post. Sorta.

Not really arguing against this, just pointing out that Igiss has said this will never happen. He doesn't want capships faction controlled, or apparently limited at all beyond tag/ID and the BS license.

But the Hackers don't have to sell to Outcasts, even though they're allies. Only Hacker tagged/ID'd ships must be let in to buy equipment, everyone else is at your whim.

it seems that has disappeared from the vocabulary around here lately. :(

And yes, still waiting for an official answer to those questions.

Couple of quick questions I had related to the latest admin notice

1) Does this void rule 4.3
Quote:4.3 Factions are free to restrict or not restrict access to their home systems and tax players who enter home system. Access to systems that surround home system must not be restricted unless there's a war with another faction.

2) Why wasn't this done a few months ago when the 101st was blowing capships off the server left and right? Why only now when Bs| starts enforcing a policy of "no capships in NY" (which ironically this admin notice mandates). Why only now when this is probably the most liberal of the "capship regulations" around?

Hmm .. not only that.

It was not inforced either when Dboy denied ALL access to Omicron-100 without the direct aproval of the Bs| , he also maid a public topic about that and yet it was never inforced.

when dboy did that he lead Bs|, I think he had their approval. ;)

There may be a language issue there. I always assumed home system meant, say, Alpha as opposed to a guard system.

Secondly, better later than never.

However I cant help but feel that the method by which these changes were imposed was done in a haphazard and partway fashion, it still feels like there wasnt as much group think going on as declare and waitwut concerning these edicts.

I believe its time that the rules received an earnest comb over to be adapted for 85. If the folks running the show need to hold up on internal debates on official faction proceeds, special characters or whatever else so be it.

As it stands, this game of gotcha and catchup has been causing some ugly rifts for a long while now.

The rules DBoy came up with to enter Omicron 100 are still listed under Order laws, and they do coincide with what the admins stated.

Only Order tagged and id'd ships and factioned allies of the order (such as the brotherhood etc., check our diplo. stat for that). Personally I let indie allies in too, but this is what the system law is.

Maybe I missed this, but what can factions who own systems do in their system? It used to be theirs and they could regulate close to everything but now that was shatered yet it's still so in the rules :/

They can do just about anything short of keeping properly tagged/ID'd ships from the same NPC faction from entering to buy equipment/ships. They can kick them out (with extreme prejudice, if needed) for loitering, or for being a disturbance.
