13/06/825 SCEC "Bystrina" expedition successfully traversed through previously unmapped in Coalition charts system that is referred to in the Order documentation as "Omicron Psi". The system being part of "Omicronis" cluster, maximum precautionary measures were taken as extremely hazardous conditions were expected. As predicted by preliminary intelligence reports, encounters with REDACTED occurred. However, the activity of REDACTED in this system was unprecedented, us being chased by a few largest known nodes surrounded by swarms of minor units. Despite the difficulty, in the name of People's Progress expeditionary corps managed to obtain research materials, map the system and successfully escape the hostile space.

The forces were small not to draw unnecessary attention:

1. OVERVIEW

The core of the expedition was represented by SCEC flagship CPRV "Kardashev" that held all the necessary research and survey equipment. The research teams under the command of me, Mstislav Belov and comrade Anton Shweik were responsible for the conduct of the surveys and subsequent analysis of data and samples obtained. CPS "Merkulov" and CPS "Yezhov" were combat freighters indispensable to get into the system. The jumphole to Omicron Psi from Omicron Alpha was reported by previous survey to be abnormal in the sense of allowing the jump of smaller vessels. Thus, our recently procured and refitted Hyperdrive module was used to navigate CPRV "Kardashev" through hyperspace directly in the system. For navigational purposes, CPS "Yezhov" was equipped with Hyperspace Navigational Matrix allowing the vessel to serve as the beacon. CPS "Merkulov" was piloted by Major Grachov, the head of TFS, who was in charge of the security measures.

2. LOGISTICS

The small size of freighters allowed the ships to traverse from Coalition space into <<CLASSIFIED>> without being noticed. There, CPRV "Kardashev" carried out a hyperspace jump. After refuelling at Freeport <<CLASSIFIED>>, the freighters departed to Omicron Psi through Omicron Alpha. Afterwards, CPRV "Kardashev" jumped for the second time into Omicron Psi. In case of unpredictable expenditures of fuel, freighters were carrying additional supply of hyperspace jump drive fuel.

3. FINDINGS

---

3.1 PLANETS

The system has three previously unmapped in Coalition charts planets, that we labelled Popovich, Nikitich, and Muromets. Seemingly uninhabitted and incapable of supporting human's life, the further analysis of the soil samples is required. The interplanetary space is filled with primitive Carbon-based organic matter similar to one found throughout Omicron cluster with estimated density of 10 x 10^-21 kg/m3. The samples of the organic matter were delivered to Kamchatka station and are to be compared with the samples of organic matter from other Omicronis systems. The preliminary results indicate no traceable difference, indicating the linkage of the organic matter to REDACTED activity.

Popovich, Nikitich, and Muromets were studied with the use of standard "Vlastelin" probe and with the use of tectonic drill "Ural". The environment being extremely hazardous, only superficial survey of soil and tectonic composition, as well as atmosphere analysis were carried out. The data obtained indicate lack of strategically important resources viable extracting so far away and in such dangerous mileu. No traces of intelligent life and/or remains of artificial structures were detected. No further study thereof is advisable, unless in case of well justified research reason.

3.2 ARTIFICIAL OBJECTS

Aside from the planets, the system contained a small nebula the size of which indicated its artificial origin. At closer investigation, expeditionary vessels spotted an artificial structure of REDACTED and a jump gate akin to one found in Omicron Minor. The place was heavily protected by nodes of different sizes. No impact on mental state of the expeditionary staff was reported so we presume that the most advanced nodes were missing in the vicinity.

Constrained by time and the environment, we carried out quick scans. The thickness of the structure prevented us from seeing its compositions and prom obtaining the material sample. Even tectonic drill "Ural" was only partially useful as we lacked time to employ its full potential. A particular finding was the translucent and semi-transparent material covering the outer entrance into the inner chambers of the structure. Seemingly transparent from outside, it reflected most of the EM-waves, therefore, rendering commonly used spectral analysis of the inner layers nigh useless. It also created the "stealth effect", preventing the parts of our ship contacted with the matter from being visible by other expeditionary vessels. A quick solution to infringement of the scanning was suggested by Aspirant Shweik: CPRV "Kardashev" used the TSAR forward cannons to clear out the material. In milliseconds of "clear" window out spectral analysis equipment managed to capture the shape and general pattern of the structure. Far from fully comprehending its purpose and chemical composition, not even mentioning the functionality, the preliminary results suggest it was similar to the one previously found in Omicron Epsilon system and possibly serve as REDACTED base and fortpost. Further analysis is needed, possible encounter with similar objects in other Omicronis systems is very likely.

The longer we remained in the vicinity of the object, the more aggressive the nodes became. As we were barely capable of fending them off, we only managed to launch a small probe into the jump gates. No meaningful data were retrieved. However, we suspect there is another REDACTED world lying behind it.

We believe, this expedition overall was a success as we sustained no critical damaged and did not lose any of the crew. The data obtained being mostly of academic value, they might serve beneficially for further studies in the direction of deep space exploration, and REDACTED activity.
