Nah, they just tried to do a shiny new system, but as soon as they put it on the live server, everything went to pieces. Now, even with the plugin disabled, pve is no longer even a thing.
Honestly, I'm not even surprised, this mod is a decade and a half old, at some point some new mechanic the base game was never intended to have would come along and break something. If anything, it's a pleasant surprise that effort on this scale is being invested at all.
Conspiracy theory: They deliberately wrecked missions to force people to trade for Credits, to please pirate players.

Not 100% sure, but I might have found a system connections bug that is causing this. We'll find out in the upcoming patch...

Yeah there's a bunch of mod bug fixes waiting for release, may be a slight snag that systems changes are also waiting and so therefore we may need to do an economy review, will chat to Unseelie later and figure out what we're going to do.
