I was patrolling around Tau-53 today. I heard there was tension on the Tottori side. I went to check. After entering Tottori, a shipwreck caught my attention that name is Uwajima at Tottori-C2. At first I thought it was a trap filled with mines. Because recently, the upper positions had passed through this road. When I realized it was safe, I realized it was just a wreck. Nothing was written on the infocard. However, it was clear that it was a Kusari Elite Fighter type ship. Deep in the wreckage, I found a gun I've never seen before. It was written on the label. ARCHANGEL. I took it and brought it to Kyoto. What do you want me to do with this gun? If you allow me, I would like to search for ship wrecks like this.

While onboard the Okayama, I got word of the coalition coming to Kyoto Base to deliver us some ordnance to help our movement to where we need it most. While having a chat weith them, seems the Navy and a few strays seemed to have floated into Chugoku, who rudely interrupted our convocation. I quickly told the Coalition to hide on our base for cover before they could see them dock on Kyoto, we must keep this hidden at all costs. It took off very very fast, no time for thinking, uncomfortably our navigation systems where playing up and we got jammed on to many rocks that heavily damaged us and the navy were able to overpower me and disable the Okayama. The Okayama is under repairs as we speak and shall be good to go soon.

I had gotten work by the captain "Kuroda" of the "RNK-Raijin" a "Kagutsuchi" class cruiser. We are to go on patrol in the New Tokyo system as there seemed to be something going on there over the radio chatter, we did not know so we are going to go and check it out. Ended up finding a lone navy cruiser that soon was supported by a few gunboats and other vessels. The fight kicked off, unfortunately I was destroyed in the fight and had to be brought back home in my escape pod, the ship must be a complete rebuild as she sustained to much damage to be repaired. Sad days when you lose your old ship, perhaps a new one will serve me better.

A notice for the Shogunate. Corsair sightings in Honshu near the Sigma border have become more frequent. Over the past two patrols into the system, I have noticed that a particular Corsair has become a bit close with Kusari Law enforcement. Sightings such as these (if they are not already) may be the beginning of the Corsair's "legal" presence in Kusari. The captain of a Kusari Destroyer, Zuiryu, expressed in his own words that the Corsairs are allowed in Kusari so long as they respect their laws.

This should draw serious concern to the shogunate as if these "legal" appearances become frequent - the Gen'an will undoubtedly notify the Outcasts of this situation, drawing them into the mess. The Corsairs are already known to hold ties with Samura and the Hogosha Association. This pits all "lawful" entities in Kusari against us, and with the Outcast presence in Kusari as well, we will be left in a very interesting position if we intend to keep the Outcasts out.

If my words and evidence above don't speak volumes to this hypothesis. Please see this flight recording below.

Their pilots may be no match for us, but their numbers certainly will.

My first mission was to be pulled alongside Shogun Ubukata Tsuya on my first real patrol and as her personal bodyguard for the day. Burning though Kyofu, we had made best speed to the Shikoku star system where most concerning things began to unravel.

⧫ The Amenhotep

Investigating Noshima - which is often frequented by trash like Hogosha, but such are charms of Freeports - we had encountered an Osiris class battleship parked just outside. Such vessels to my knowledge are only ever used by The Order, and the older stock of the Corsairs had long since been exhausted or retrofitted to Murmilos. This alone I have gathered in due time on Akabat. My understanding of how the event unravelled is limited, for my system crashed halfway through a conversation with the commanding officer of this Osiris. I have already fixed the cause of it as I am transmitting this report. I have my own appraisal of the situation, separate from the Shogun. I believe she specifically insisted on my report to judge my aptitude of her newest warrior, that being me before I can be entrusted with something more demanding.

People defect for two reasons: Ideological or self-serving interest. This man has enough gall and greed to commandeer the entire battleship to do in his own words “shooting undesirables” whoever those might have been. My instinct tells me it will be just about anyone the commander disagrees at the time. I do not know what he wants but keep in mind, he has a microphone attached to his boots to make a dramatic entrance. Is he trying to intimidate me or fulfil his own vision of grandeur? GC had not contacted us in regards to him, therefore I can only assume this man means trouble. Its turrets are quite a collection… how can a man acquire such a mix match within a single lifetime?

⧫ Anna Aurelia

Next encounter was far more enjoyable once I finally got it into my thick skull that Anna Aurelia is not a threat to our Shogun. This Bretonian, seemingly talented AI engineer seems to be a close acquaintance of our Lady. I asked if she is friends with Blood Dragons as a whole, or hers only to which she replied the latter. Close personal relations inspire more loyalty than ties to faceless organisation to my experience. My personal take is that a person who is only attached to a single man or woman, would be more inclined to sell out a lesser Dragon if pressed by our enemy. After all, lowly Suzuki is not HER dear friend after all.

Anna Aurelia gifted some kind of AI construct to Shogun. Upon advice of me and Commander of Gunboat “Jintsu“, Tsuya agreed for our scientists to have a look at this device before it is plugged into our systems. This took us towards Okinawa where “Jintsu” spotted something on the edge of the radar. I had a hunch it might have been a high energy jump somewhere in the system… whether it was inbound or outbound transit, I am not a wormhole wizard to know. I had a hunch to travel to Tohoku immediately, followed by the rest of my comrades. We found the probable source of this disturbance soon enough.

⧫ Revenant

Our intruder in Tohoku was a single fighter belonging to the so-called Revenant of Auxesia that I intercepted between Heaven’s Gate and Ryuku, not too far from the edge of Nampo cloud. Intruder came to a halt upon my demand, although whether its motivation to comply with my request was courtesy or the fact that Blood Dragons already converged on her last known position from every possible direction is not for me to say. I saw a bunch of crude and not so crude implants, as well as mechanical and bionic limb replacements in my life. However Auxesia makes me feel uneasy with this grotesque of rampart bodily modifications, invoking the same effect as that one Rogue I met that had two clunky artificial visors for where his eyes ought to be. The Revenant as it came to identify itself (its parents must have had a field day trying to name “it”) behaved… creepy to say at least but Tsuya regarded it was possible to strike a deal with this individual.

If I were alone, without contact with anyone more important than myself, I would assess Revenant to be a security threat and demand its immediate departure from Tohoku under a threat of force. Am I being too overzealous myself, or circumstances of this specific day were indeed far above my level of clearance and experience to solve?

This was already a long day for me, even before the patrol. I had finally looked forward to returning to base by the time we reached Tohoku. Seeing the situation with this odd guest was handled and our Shogun was adequately protected by the entire fleet of our sworn capital vessels, I considered my mission complete and asked for permission to leave. Being granted, I disappeared into the nebula and docked at our listening outpost at Ryuku. This will be all for today.

In practicing strategy one must not remain stagnant. Just like Go Rin no Sho of old taught us to test sword fighting styles against the styles of other regions, so we must test our piloting style against the pilots from beyond Kusari. I must know this well, I must practice this well.

Different schools prefer different cadences in different situations, the way of strategy GNS-Tourriers showed me the approach of their region and also revealed that I have practiced the way of strategy well.

Our way has proven superior, and we have released them as they yielded to the superiority of my strategy in an honorable battle.

After the last fiasco with total OS crash on my Wyvern the last time, I left my fighter for complete check up while I looked for other means of occupying myself in the meantime. I pitched a suggestion to the Quartermaster and at the time acting logistic coordinator. I learned that portions of our fleet are dated or close to a point the structural stress and damage may disqualify them from future service. I volunteered to obtain non-Kusarian hardware, arguing it may prove value in more than a simple stopgap measure until more domestic designs may be acquired for the same role.

Based on catalogues of independent ship designers and builders (figured it would be more diverse and easier to acquire than to try my luck with… ugh… House Megacorps) I have opted for Peregrine-class marketed as a “frigate” sold, built and mainly operated by Zoners operating around Gran Canaria. Its fairly new invention and it is openly sold, so there is no red tape preventing us from acquiring more of their ships in the future. On paper, this vessel looks like the Raba-class: smaller merchant built with the philosophy of an upscaled freighter.

We would board one of the smuggler vessels outbound for Bretonia. Manned with extra crew so we are able to man our newest acquisition without leaving the original mothership without enough hands to work onboard. Inbound and outbound transit followed on the same route which is as follows: Chugoku - Hokkaido - Kyushu - 23 - 29 - 31 - Edinburgh - Dublin - Poole - 48. I have to say that I never visited Gran Canaria before, I only know it from neural net and stories passed around bars frequented by Zoners and Corsairs (many of them live there, I will get back to that point later). Allegedly it was once possible to access Omega 48 directly from Dublin but jumpholes can be such trifling things.

My Commanding Officer for this mission was Hayashi Aiko, ranked Genbu. Her role was to provide oversight, knowledge and authority in situations that outstrip my personal experience. She has stayed on the sideline, falling back as a member of the crew while I held temporary brevet rank to command the crew, including Hayashi. She is tough as nails but compassionate to a certain point, she did not make my life any harder after discovering my ‘condition’. She worked as hard as anyone onboard the ship despite physical scars that necessitated her rebreather. I can respect and admire people who can work as hard as their own expectations towards their own subordinates. Such work ethics are admirable.

Four of us have been dropped on Gran Canaria, while our ride made its best speed back to Bretonia to minimise potential exposure to hostile elements present within the system. I bought a Peregrine-class frigate, inspected the ship and commenced space trials under the eyes of the Zoner crew before finalising payment to the manufacturer. My experience from past service on a gunboat had paid dividends as this ship’s unique layout and features was more of that of a warship than a commercial cargo train. Impressive, considering this is open-market design rather than proprietary dedicated escort ship. I compiled a list of what we have learned during those trials. I believe other Blood Dragons may take it as a review whether such a ship has a place and role within their personal flotillas.

Powerplant: Total output consistent with what is expected of a gunship/light gunboat. Capacitors however are capable of holding more than twice as much power in reserve.
Offensive capabilities: 8 turrets, each capable of equipping gunboat turrets. Disruptor mount makes this ship capable of independent raider operation.
Combat assessment: Excellent all-gun forward and rear arcs, with decent star- and port-side coverage due to horizontal weapon mounts. Facing an enemy with top or keel is inadvisable due to limited firepower and far greater profile.
Defensive capabilities: Armor rated for a Gunship or light Gunboat. ECM slot. Large bank of nanobots and batteries further enhance survivability.
Theoretical maximum carry capacity: 2900 units divided into four external cargo pods (Replaceable containers allow for rapid load and unladen times, this feature is often unjustly ignored) and an internal compartment. The latter likely to be severely diminished in favour of additional armor reinforcement.
Mobility: Agility should be accountable amongst that of gunships, so long as you are not trying to bank in the opposite direction too often and put yourself at disadvantage with sluggishness of its cargo hold.
Final Words: It is far from the greatest transport in the world. If you are looking to efficiently and swiftly transport as many goods from point A to point B as is humanly possible, you are looking for one of the Borderworld Trains. “Peregrine” is a heavily armed pirate raider, blockade runner and decent escort ship in one package. You are going to surprise everyone who thinks a Blood Dragon Merchant Navy to be an easy hit.

Having the honor to name it, I christened our newest frigate as SST AINO and set out to return to Chugoku with haul of locally mined deuterium. I named Genbu Aiko as my second in command and Nishikigoi Kubo as my Third should the situation demand it. En’enra Kawakami was the fourth and final member of our crew. Trip had nothing of consequence or importance to mention. Mollys do not concern themselves with random smugglers, nor the usual crowd of Bretonia had any time to react to our presence. We arrived during night of 29th of Saturday and moored with Kyoto. SST Aino is not to be considered fully fitted. This frigate is basically a stock unit, equipped with substandard weapons and minimalistic armor for the time being. Upon completion of its assigned tasks for the needs of a commitee, SST Aino will be sent to Mito where it can receive a full complement of weapons and improved armor. I hereby request that the ship remains under my care afterwards.

P.S. I saw angsty Anna Aurelia roaming about Kyoto and Chugoku in general. She is looking forward to seeing Shogun Tsuya in regards to her gift.

It has been a while. I was fortanate to have meet up with my old friend Hayashi Aiko, we have heard of a battle just on the other side of the Tottori jumphole into Rhishiri. I could not resit a fight against the Kusari Navy, such fun time to improve on my skills.

We fought bravely for the Dragons, we however did not make the end of the fight with our ships, controls bugged up and I ran into a enemy mine disabling my ship and ejected out of there to avoid capture. However I managed to damage the enemy ship enough that they were quickly dealt with and put out of the fight. I heard that our Marquis friends mopped the floor and won, lucky we did some damage.

A note to myself, I need more practice. To rusty on this battling. More training for me to commence.

I'm contacting you to report on notable events I recorded on one of my first formal assignments- providing fighter escort for the Aino.
While running hull plating to Osihi, scouts in Tau-53 reported sightings of a liner with the [KNF] tag- the Kakunodate.
I was somewhat late to arrive, but I will provide what logs I can.

By my own account of events, the liner is a research vessel belonging to the KNF, which was investigating new installations in the region. I didn't catch whether those were Blood Dragon installations or not. You're best off asking Suzuki-san for more detail on her conversation with the Kakunodate.
Judging by the fact that Kusari is supposed to have largely abandoned Tau-53, this strikes me as highly suspicious. However, I'll defer to the judgment of my superiors on this matter.
This is also the reason I've used such high-level encryption for this message. It may be nothing, but it's best not to take any chances, in case this is part of a major plot by the KNF.

Our second notable encounter was longer, but relatively less important. We had a run-in with Clouded.Dawn, some poor, foolish freelancer- probably from another House, judging by the strange craft they were flying and her accent.
We were trying to track down the Kakunodate in New Tokyo, and we were hovering over Planet New Tokyo's north hemisphere. The crew of the Aino were questioning an Auxesian vessel about it, when this freelancer tried to challenge us to a fight.
I won't pretend to understand her reasoning- she was staring down a frigate, an HF and a VHF, and begged us to... duel her, I suppose.
Fortunately, we were able to de-escalate and talk them down. Hawthorne-san appeared quite eager for a fight, though.

It's a shame that Kusari's propaganda draws in even outsiders with its promises of 'unity and peace'... Still, I'm glad bloodshed is, indeed, not always the outcome.
As always, I am prepared to fight at any time. I'm quite eager to assist the Dragons, though I do regret that violence is so often necessary.

Ki wo tsukete, Dragons. Remain vigilant. If the KNF is plotting something, I am at your disposal.
