Not the Avatar/Sig thing. Hell, the only thing one could find offensive about that is its dullness. Anyway, back on topic. Let's not try make these forums too PC. Just use the awesome power of common sense and everything will be fine. Generally, as long as you don't show any genitals or milk ducts, and use no swear words, everything should be fine. Most gory or graphic stories on these forums seem to have warnings anyway. Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - Seth Karlo - 06-09-2009 *Looks curiously at the fire extinguisher* Did this not work? *Sprays everyone down again with a new one* Aaaanyway, I would like again to point out that this game recieved a "15" in the UK. This means that it's suitable for people aged 15 and up... Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - FooFighter - 06-09-2009 ' Wrote:He probaply ment -in general-, Martin. Not the Avatar/Sig thing. Hell, the only thing one could find offensive about that is its dullness. <strike>...and it's lack of transparency.</strike> Ontopic: We're playing a PG-13/Teen-rated space ship game full of violence and murder. Most people around here I've met are around 14-18; older people exist, younger people are a minority. In my opinion, the rules on this server should mainly be oriented on people of these ages playing the game, not on younger ones who in most countries aren't allowed to play this game anyways. Besides, have scantily clad women ever hurt somebody? You can see girls wearing less on the streets nowadays >_> . And most kids learn to swear in kindergarten and elementary school, so I doubt anybody playing on this server and seeing some character calling another character a bastard would be strongly affected by it. If somebody RPs a rather foul-mouthed character, I couldn't care less. I think most rules regarding swearing should be removed in favor of a new one: "Use common sense and stay in character". Igiss has already stamped his decree on swear words in general. A change of this rule would make most newbies who read the rules think that swearing is not sanctionable. You, my friend, are an idealist  this would never work out right (unfortunately) Lets be serious ok? :) Most of the people complaining don't do it because they are offended but because they want revenge/pleasure by getting your arse reported to the admin team for some minor and doubtful offence. Common sense is FAIL < i love it, but it just doesn't do the trick does it? Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - FooFighter - 06-09-2009 ' Wrote:No thanks. And it should not be sanctionable, in my opinion, as long as it's in character. I can differ between myself and my character, so I don't mind anybody telling my char that he's a complete *insert colorful language here* as long as he's also saying it in-RP and not because he hates me as a person. However, calling another person's character an a**hole or a moth**fu****, even in character, is really not going to be allowed, not ever, I believe. Igiss wants this mod and community to be friendly to everyone of all ages, and to keep a clean reputation. Sexy pictures, violent avatars and (ok, far-fetched) stories. - Reverend Del - 06-09-2009 We have enough issues figuring out if the insults bandied around here are in character or not. Not everyone is capable of distinguishing the actions of you and your characters. The rule is not going anywhere the moment it does we'll see a lot more anger and a lot less roleplay. If that happens we're no different to a PvP server and our main reason for existence dies. |
