From the Video, they don't seem like RPing at all. Just PewPewing bullies.
I have never seen to date, a decent RPing Phantom, just mean old bullying.
Where are all the good RPing Phantoms hiding?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would LOVE to RP a Phantom, it seems all the restricted slots are being given to idiots.
That video makes a prime example.
If I had a Phantom I wouldn't pick on people, I'd live up to the Phantom name! Sirius would FEAR ME!
But no, Phantoms in my eyes from what I've seen, are nothing more than bullies...

On that note, I am a proud owner of every single kind of Terrorist ID on this server. I've been around this block way more than once. Way more. More often than not, it's not the terrorist (we're being vague here, this includes Keepers, Wilde, Phantoms, and generic Terrorists) who is at fault for the lack of RP, but the other party. Trust me when I say if you try to RP, you usually get it back.
And if you were trying to RP, well, we go on experience. A guy that sits there and just keeps mining while saying "why you shoot?" is 98% of the time not looking for RP. If you're that 2%, well, sucks to be you.
EDIT: Also, to the whole "Phantoms are an admin playground" thing... only 2 active Phantoms (forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm not looking at anything right now) are Admins.

Show, Don't Tell.
If the Council of Dons authorized those kinds of methods against Omicron Alpha's lolcap problem there wouldn't be a lolcap problem anymore because they'd all have been blown up so many times by the multiple Dreadnoughts and bomber hordes we tend to have lying around, but in the process we'd alienate dozens of players and we'd get ripped a new one on the forums. Yes, you sow what you reap, and the Phantoms are a prime example of that! They have the power, however, to stop that. Be altruistic and break the cycle. If your RP is really so brilliant, better than most of the normal community's, than you have a responsibility to play altruistically. These players expect to die! You have to show them that they don't have to, because they've already given up on you, or you're just going to keep getting crap RP and kill messages.

Yeah, lets see some AWESOME rp from the Phantoms please, they just seem to think everyone is below them, picking on a Miner? Bleugh, lets see them challenge someone who deserves picking on, not bully those who can't defend themselves.
-SaidPhantomInVideo- had poor RP, he just wanted to abuse the power he had over the poor miner, he didn't for a second explain how the Phantoms are to be feared and how the miner is supposedly 'corrupt' or anything. He just pewpewpewed at miner when he refused to 'roll over'

You are judging them, by what someone else has said (which he admitted was doctored), instead of finding out for yourself. Read the faction status post and other relevant threads. Find out who those Phantoms actually are. Then go and READ what they have said and done. Do not judge a phantom, based on what someone else has said on the forums. Instead of jumping on the bandwagon actually find out for yourself. The chances are that you will find out what they are really about instead of getting swept up in jealousy and anger.

I've seen around four instances of Phantom RP, they were all a disgrace... Just wanted to PewPew.
I'm not jealous, it just seems most of the poorest RP comes from Penny, New York and the Phantoms.
It's unfair that such a cool faction gets handed to such boom-whores...
I want to see real Phantom RP for once...

Edit: still the problem is that after being blown up like this, the OP has posted a whining thread, a trial by forum. He - the Freelancer player - KNOWS the phantoms can blow him up without any reason given. Yet he still chooses not to RP - in character - with them.
So this thread is a OORP thing to an ingame situation. Instead of asking what they are and going to a bar and talking to his mates, after being hospitalised, he godly whines about not being able to whine. At the very least, posting a bounty is a good option.

That illustrates my point perfectly. Why wouldn't you RP? Because you don't expect to get RP back. People seem, for some reason, to assume that it's the responsibility of the regular players to initiate the RP and provide the driving force for it, but I don't think that's true at all. The Phantoms have just as much responsibility as any other player to present RP (No, gaiz, 'RUN FOR YOUR LIIIIFE' or 'Tee hee! Wanna play?' and then shooting does not count as initiating RP unless the Terrorist ID is horrendously overvalued), and because of who they are (an organized group with a very, very exclusive ID), I think they have a greater responsibility than the average player to break the cycle.

I'd see the Phantoms as Myths, Ghosts of space.
Aliens, people wouldn't recognise them at first sight and know exactly what they are...
Heck I bet half the people here don't even know any of the Phantom RP.
For example:
Who are 'The Crathygtan'?
Who was Phantom Ember and what significant event was this Phantom responsible for?
Who is Revenant DarkStar, and how do the masters communicate with him?
What is the 'stick-thingy' the Phantoms use to make peoples brains melt and heads leak blood?
I'm fascinated by the Phantom RP and it P*sses me off that it seems to be wasted!
