Quote:I don't like having to apply more severe sanctions every week, but if we don't, cheating will spread like ->weed<-.

now there's something i wouldnt mind ^^ j/k

I think the timer is right, but i do hate to wait if i need to switch chars quickly... The option to go on a cheaters killing spree is one that sounds appealing to me, but thats just the PVP whore living inside my head...
In 1min 30 secs a good equipped fighter can take down a GB without nova's... so it should be more then enough for the pirate's to kill someone...

Now just bear with me for a sec...
I for one am known to be AFK a lot... if im trading im afk even more, so when i get caught by a pirate, he will kill me even before i get back to my FL and see what is happening... this happened to me once before, but this will make it happen much more often... aahwell... ill just have to live with it...

The idea is to force people to dock in order to switch characters.

You know, I once played on a server (The Aussie Freelancers server, AKA Getonit) with a plugin that would kill you if you F1ed out during combat, making you lose all your loose belongings and sending you back to the place where you last docked.

Maybe this could be used?

EDIT: Oh jeez, I just realised how old this topic is. Sorry for gravedig.

Gah.... maybe just add a line of code into FL, that crashes the system when you F1 in space...

Ah well, if that's the only option...

ADMIN NOTICE: F1 in space during combat - Jinx - 12-15-2007

ahh, i wanne mention the other aspect of the rule.... after making my tax demand, i shall wait for 10 seconds. and then i can open fire. - lets put it that way, all the last traders i met did not even manage to cut their engines in 10 seconds, not to talk about replying. some don t reply at all.... .

it takes most traders longer to reply to a pirate. so that is NOT a concern about my roleplay to wait longer, i never had a trader F1 to me.... . but its a concern about justifying to blow a trader to pieces after 10 seconds. no good roleplay, but if there is a rule that says, after 10 seconds, you can - and if you suspect a F1 even "should" open fire. some traders panic then and don t manage to chat at all - and for a gunboat it doesn t really take too long to take down a transport.

whats the opinions about that.

I've to agree with Jinx,

10 sec. is really very very short, as there are also many players on this server who are
no english nativespaekers, so am I, I am german.

And often those (and some others as well) players just will need additional time to find
out what's going on at all - but before they can - boom they're gone.

As F1 delay is set to 59 seconds (or higher) a 20 - 30 seconds waittime seems appropriate
to me, except if the prey tries to go on cruise of course, the remaining time still should last to destroy the
trader if he doesn't respond or has used F1.

This will give the prey enough time understand, think and reply - and the pirates interests
won't be cut either, half a minute ain't that long at all.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers Knockout

Ladies, Gents, its set at 59 seconds and has been for quite a while. Not likely to change in the near future.
Old thread, been asleep for a long time. Let it get some more please ...

Right, epic grave-dig attempt here.

What have I told you people before? Don't practice Necromancy! The Necromonicon doesn't work anyway! Trust me, I tried! *Grumbles as he pulls out his lock-stamp*
