so much yelling at the whale. but i think its just a perfect little ship. its got 3500 cargo hold for roughly 20 mio. is there any other ship that beats that for this price? - the behemoth is 2500 cargo for about the same price - of course comes with more defensive power - but still.

the whal is rather small and easy to connect to a tradelane. (the point of activation appears to be at its front tip - in contrast to lets say a cruise liner which point of activation appears to be in the middle)

all in all, the whale is easy to fly, has a good cargo hold, and is cheap enough.

as for a HUGE transport. i have to agree with a cap limit of 5000 cargo space. actually, i d favour a reduction of cargo on existing transports (i ll get yelled at for that) - lets say:

- transport 1000
- large transport 1500
- train 2000
- large train 3000
- container ship 3000
- advanced train 4000 as it appears it would have 8 containers.
*** that is when a visible container can take around 500 cargo *** (is it possible to link the visible containers to the cargo? - shoot down a container and the trader looses 500 of his cargo - random goods of whats inside)

those transports that are not original
- behemoth 1500
- whale 3000 (but recude its armor/shield even more so its REALLY fragile, even to a light fighter)

then there could be supertransports that are hard to manouver into lanes and hard to dock with.

in the end, its a cargo hold vs. time it takes to go from undock to doch at the destination. - so if you d fly a supertransport, you d have to:
a.) fly yourself into lanes and not just target+f3 to autodock
b.) plan to take like twice the time due to manouvering into gates/lanes compared to normal transports.

of course that should pay off - and so a supertransport might hold
- 4000 - 5000 cargo.

that would include nerfing of existing transports though - but might aswell improve the use of the agile and small freighters, cause their cargo is closer to the big transports then.

Sorry for the delay on finishing this. Here are the final images before I send it in to Igiss. What do you think?

I know that is a lot of pictures, but I am happy to get the skinning done. The CMP and MAT should be done in the next two days. Also the width/height will be the same as a train and the length will be shorter than the Adv Train, at least that's the plan.

I thought the plan was to make it the size of a battleship.

Just two words: very impressive.

One suggestion, try to make the front and the engine houses and the backside of the bridge a bit rounder for a bit more elegance.

Very good work so far.

@Thomas Hill: That was the initial idea behind it, but for a transport that was not going to get a hold size greater than 5000, and after some suggestions made by Igiss earlier in the thread, a size between the advanced train and the large train seems a good idea. It can be unarmed (or at least mostly) and still have a large hold even at that size.

Honestly, who would want a transport as big as a battleship if the hold is less than or equal to an advanced train, and it is unarmed to boot!? Now don't get the impression I have an issue with this, the design has simply changed according to needs.

@Angel of Mercy: I was kind of going for a more non-elegant ship for this one. Industrial and rustyish.

I like it... might even consider going back to being a trader...

Mmmm seing as your fineshed textureing id either add a whole bunch of randon stuff to make it look a little bit more like a shp thats constructed of steel (err whatever metal or composit ships of the future are made off) Or tesalate the tar out of the surfaces and put a little mesh noise into it.

The ship looks fantastic!

If it's between the sizes of a train and adv train, I think it needs a jump up in size.

That thing looks like it should be a behemoth.

Nice ship. Captures the manifactured ugliness of a container ship really well. Needs to be bigger than an adv train tho imo
