Declaring Combat - pchwang - 02-05-2008 ' Wrote:I play as hesian 4 days.... NOBODY and NEVER in those 4 days told me something before fight... RM KOS me, corsairs KOS me, bountyhunters KOS me (yesterday battleship... I fly in odin:angry:).This is how bad chain reactions start. People need to start setting examples for other people. Frankly, I just don't think that there is any room for RP left in the combat aspect of disco. Like I mentioned before, I see some Corsairs, and they KoS me. Frankly, it's kinda boring. I was helping some Xeno pilots(killing NPCs) out in Colorado outside Pueblo station, and LSF suddenly just show up and start shooting at us. Saying something before combat, or at best, exchanging some lines spices up combat. Seriously. Declaring Combat - Athenian - 03-22-2008 Ideally everyone would engage in good RP banter like that before the shooting starts. I think it eases tensions between players (as distinct from characters). I certainly will try to do it more often. More and more new players are turning up on the server and they need to be encouraged to enjoy the RP aspect. This is a learning curve for all of us. Declaring Combat - Baltar - 03-23-2008 [color=#FFFF00]LOL ... Good luck with that. Declaring Combat - pchwang - 03-23-2008 Gravedigging. And, what is that supposed to mean? Back up your statements if you're going to make them. Declaring Combat - Horon - 03-23-2008 Quote:Frankly, if a pirate char jumps out and fires a disruptor at trader and begins to bring the transport's shields down to null, a police char isn't going to take the time to shout, "Hey! Stop it!" They will most likely engage the trader. Rather late...but why would a Police character engage the TRADER when its the PIRATE breaking the law? Kambei I find it hard to believe that the RM of all people would KOS ANYONE in their space, unless they had a damn good reason...I know this from experience because I tend to sit on my butt in New Berlin and watch them RP with pirates that come in...I don't recall them ever attacking before they tell pirates to leave....And I don't recall many pirates leaving when asked... Declaring Combat - Unseelie - 03-23-2008 RM have a rather extensive list of reasons, SED, and all well within their RP...luckily, most of them are above that. As far as making everyone RP ingame...well, I agree with athenian, though I promote a more militant way of producing the result...its something the entire comunity has to do...Baltar, I hope that's not your attitude toward getting people RP, or you may be in the wrong place...its not an RP if you want to server. Its a must RP server. Any person can RP on a PVP server. We've the distinction of an RP server. Our world is a stage, and all the players are merely players, in the old sense. Declaring Combat - Athenian - 03-23-2008 Well said. It's hard to remain patient in-game with people who flagrantly don't RP, but I think it's worth the effort. I think I have probably got two people to register with the forums in the last two weeks....not a lot i know, but once people see the good example being set, i'm sure they'll get into the spirit of things. Declaring Combat - ivr56 - 04-06-2008 say something simple atleast like 'Engaging "fraction"' or something simple like 'Engaging'. NPCs do it when your 1k away, it isnt hard. Declaring Combat - Freedom Defense - 04-06-2008 ' Wrote:In roleplay, most individuals wouldn't want to broadcast their signals to the enemy. Yeah but how would they know where you are? You could talk all day and people still wouldn't be able to find you. Maybe for stealth missions true and that mostly applies to unlawfuls. Declaring Combat - Praetyre - 04-06-2008 Triangulation of electronic signals is undoubtedly possible in the Freelancer universe, where travelling across entire star systems in a matter of minutes and superluminal travel are accessible to even the poorest citizen. |
