That would be some pretty good RP for LPI when they find more than illegal base defenses (Like a Battlerazor)

Okie dokie,

It doesnt mean influence wise, Eventually you will be able to spawn npc ships, Weapon platforms etc to defend your bases while you are away. (not right now like cannon said this is yet to be done)

I personally am not entirely sure how the armaments will work, but when i created the model for the player bases i added more guns as you go up the ladder. Vague i know but thats all you shall get from me.

If this player stations bug like the NPC stations do when there are more then 5 players, it's going to be Pearl Harbor all over again.

How many guns per ladder thing?

and as a suggestion I would suggest making Base mounted guns sellable in like guard systems and stuff. Would be more profitable than codenames and would give arms dealers something to run that's more expensive than Codenames(Heavy Mortar turrets 0_o)

So if (when) your base is destroyed what will

a) happen to all the ships docked on the base at that time?

b) happen to all the commodities on those ships?

c) happen to all the commodities that may have been sold to the station?

Are we going to be looking a possibly huge drops of loot from all those docked mining ships on bases created in the mining fields? (I certainly hope so)

Because if not, miners suddenly become un-piratable. Seems a little unfair......

Overall though, this is going to be a great addition.

As far as I know, every base you dock on, it's ingame ID (hi01_01_base for Malta, for example) is stored on your character file on the server. Every time you dock, that entry is scooted toward the top of the list. So if you happen to have the base deactivated, you will spawn on the second next entry.

but the amount of dockable entities next version will be extremely high, what with dockable dynamic stations, dockable caps, and other related dockable..things. The ingame IDs would need to be dynamic to, right?

I like the idea. And I say it's NOT impossible to run an own base. Everyone who played the X games knows what i'm talking about.
X2, X3 Reunion/Terran Conflict are the best examples to this. There you can run hundreds of bases (but mostly complexes) and supply/combat fleets.
Each base and each of their ships need supplies too. And all that all by yourself, since the X games are non-multiplayer games.
So I dare to say: "It won't be that hard.":D

So many <strike>exploits</strike> RP ideas.

Carriers:
-No need to wait, until the last member of your group is finally here. Let them all dock at your carrier and ship
them into the action.
-PLAYER A: "YU IN CAP. YU CAN NO PIRAT ME!"
PLAYER B: *using two accounts on different computers, both online at same time (acc 1 = carrier, acc 2 = bomber, acc 2 is docked inside acc 1)*
shrugs, goes quickly to the other computer and undocks with his bomber *insert-big-smile-here*

Bases:
-Building heavy defences right next to jumpholes (or at Gates for enforcing embargos)
-Building staging areas for planned raids (no more Q_Q like "Don't use Freeport for gather caps!")
-Building bridge-heads on war fronts
-Building stopovers for traders/smugglers
-Active price wars ("Come to my base, I have better prices than him!")
-Players already bathing in several billions on multible accounts will insta-build huge complexes

My suggestion:
Either One dockable playerbase per account or one dockable carrier per account.
One carrier and one base in the same account = NO U!

As for piracy, dunno. ID restriction?

Can build an own base within the ZoI of his IFF/ID
Cannot have carrier (<==cargo restriction?)

But what about 'sairs 'n' 'casts? Or semis in general? But-but-but-... more buts and what-ifs :wacko:
I'll think about this topic a little more...

Yes, but said player would need to pay someone to help supply his vast empire of lolbattlestations due to the fact that one 5k wont be able to support a large network of stations.

One thing I'd like to see that would take 5 seconds to add is the ability to have a dockable Heavy Lifter as a player-owned base. These can serve a planet-side base when docking rings haven't been created, as discussed here.
