I do hope you already contacted the dev team on that. Will wait for some screenshots, until that, i'll remain reasonably suspicious. Right now I'm designing the backbone of everything, nothing is visual yet. I will have to rely on "extra-modded" Freelancer ships/worlds/what-not for visual testing but those will be replaced before Alpha. Relying solely on the Disco dev team is <strike>laughable</strike> somewhat unrealistic,<strike> considering it took them more than 2 years and maybe even more to develop 4.86. </strike> I'm sure the devs from other Freelancer mods (hint - have a look at Freeworlds) are just as effective, if not better than the ones here. So keeping your project exclusive to Discovery is not necessarily the best approach to develop an enormous task such as a complete engine, especially you can only benefit from a small amount of collective intellect at Discovery when it comes to design and programming - other than the entire Freelancer community. Your loyalty to Discovery is respectable. But for your project's sake, I urge you to reconsider how utilising the power of many capable development teams across the Freelancer community can benefit you, and through that - the legacy of Freelancer. Wish you bests My new game engine inspired by Freelancer and Discovery. - Switchback - 09-17-2011 Well I can offer beta testing, but knowing how some people would probably leak info I bet all betas will be within the Devs team. but, your missing one key question: What if the Dev team does not like the engine for whatever reason/seems it impossible to use? |
