Rule 4.1 - sovereign - 03-29-2008

' Wrote:My Opinion:

People should be allowed to join a faction as long as they play a active part in it (This doesnt mean: "I joined a pirate faction because I ocasionally wanted to blow up lawful ships. Tehee ships"). This Purely because of the requirements of a faction. A faction is say its own "Community", its members are contsantly communcating, being involved. If a member is joining factions because they just wanted the ID or because they like to sometimes. That shouldnt be allowed. If someone is in a faction it is expected that they interact with other members, add to it or something. Take for example the KNF faction, we have a communcation forums were members can report incidents, enter reports; ACTIVELY role-play. So if people can activley roleplay (Multi-task characters from different clans) then it should be allowed. But if they just join factions for the heck: Oh war is starting I join faction so I can be in it, or so I can flash my cool id, blow up stuff; Than it shouldnt.

Damn straight.

This seems to be general consensus, too; enforcing this rule might nab some abusers, but more likely just beat up on those who really can RP all their different characters. And seeing as that killing them off would basically kill off the lifeblood of the server, that isn't going to happen. Thus, if the rule can't be enforced and isn't followed anyway, why keep it?

(I'm referring to the part about no more than 2 factions per account? player?, not the multiple factions, one character: that's just common sense, and any idiot who tries will get kicked from both or the factions will be axed for being ooRP. It isn't possible to do within the rest of the rules, one ID only people, so why does it need to be spelled out?)

Rule 4.1 - Freedom Defense - 04-01-2008

If you scrapped it you could have NARCS which could turn out to be cool. Or annoying but realistic obivously there would be spies in real life so why not in a game?

Rule 4.1 - kingvaillant - 04-01-2008

To rewrite the rule will be the best idea

Just keep the first part, scrap the rest

Rule 4.1 - pipsqueak - 04-01-2008

I see too many people calling scrap it with no reason following it.
I voted leave it.

Having multi faction characters causes a lot of issues...you think spies is bad?
Wait till one of your faction guys start syphoning your funds to some other faction.
Bad ? *Cough* some factions have shared accounts which are used by multiple players.
Lets say BOB gets hold of a Faction BS and uses the funds on it to create new traders for faction B.
You ok with that? How about BOB goes and defends his other faction with that BS.

How are you going to track it? I say One character > one faction.

What ship are you going to fly? Are we going to start seeing blood dragons all over? if I start a BD faction myself and them let my team join whomever they want to join? is disco ready for that ?

Every one keep B'ing about Xenos...wait till they become Xenos/Corsairs/Zoners (THey are almose allied right)? You ready to tackle a Dreaddy being flown by a Xeno ?...cause I ain't

PEACE.

OORP and metagaming can be sanctioned under other rules. This is about allowing people to join multiple factions without having to have multiple accounts. I mean, the Account Manager app was (as far as I'm aware) originally intended to allow shared 'flagship' accounts for factions e.g. the LSF's Goliath, and is now being used to get around a badly worded server rule.

If this is about stopping CHARACTERS being members of multiple factions - e.g. a character called Bob being a member of both the LSF and the Outcasts (which is what most of the 'keep it' people seem to have been concerned about) then the rule should be reworded to mean that. As it stands, it is a rule preventing people from RPing multiple identities, and is generally held in contempt through widespread use of FL Account Manager to get round it.
