What i do not get is why you all tried to even get back today, right after the sanction. Just do not log on that char, and try tomorrow, or day after to land on freeport and mount gear. Or even wait to off hours. You had to know the lolwuts would be waiting for the chance to get even, and/or get some free armour/gear. Not smart. REALLY not smart.

So what if Bret allied with the Hessians?
Rheinland isn't in a position to do anything right now. They are facing a losing war vs Liberty and crumbling from within due to the current economic crisis and lack of insurance from IC's withdrawal.
Bretonia is supporting IC and decided to ally with Hessians because 1) they're close by, 2) they hate the corsairs, 3) unlike many of the other examples given of corsairs bhg order etc allying, the hessians and bretonia are NOT ENEMIES DUE TO PRIOR EVENTS. Also 4) IC supports the Hessians.
The hessians are unlawful IN THEIR OWN HOUSE. For a comparison, look at the Junkers. Semi-lawful most places, but treated as unlawful in kusari and gallia. The hessians may be a pirate group, but they are preying on rheinland house shipping in an effort to cause political change. And being in the dire straits that Bretonia is currently facing, I can totally see them taking any help they can get to solve any local problems, especially one that is ALSO A PROBLEM FOR RHEINLAND. It's not like Bretonia allied with Hessians to attack Rheinland bases or shipping..
I still think the sairs should get a new base though, one that is in corsair space in a location of their choosing, in exchange for the rules being changed on them after the base was built and work was put in. This may also soothe any possible metagamey aftermath that may spring from the desire for revenge for what happened.

Could change if Hessians start receiving Bretonian support. We've already got outcasts living in Bretonia, why not hessians?

@Trogdor. And THAT is why BAF would not ally with Hessiens. They are unlawful period everywhere. Period! Junkers are quasi lawful as you mentioned, not "UNLAWFUL" They are not "UNLAWFUL" in Kusari, and Gallia. They are hostile/enemies. Big difference. Hessiens come into Liberty and they are still treated as Unlawfulls/pirates. By your....explanation you are saying Liberty navy is "unlawful" in rheinland, but they are not, they are enemies. Are you seeing the difference yet Trogdor?

Edit: We all know several people went after that base just to grief Corsairs. Corsairs had an opprotunnity for revenge and they jumped on it.
