RE: Civilian Cruiser - ssc - 01-30-2013

Off Topic: I think we better move the converstation about giving civilian ID pilots such ships as Capitals. Dont want it to be flooded with half and half. I'll probly start it tomorrow.

On Topic: It was a old concept of mine, when I got started, happened when I stopped playing Disco for a while since Life got in the way. Probly should aim for a transport with Gunship and Transport Turret combo, since a ship like the Salvager uses GB turrets. Could be called a Cruiser, but more of a Frigate, since they are a step down, but almost as effective.

I also really like the model, way to go darling!

Eh, no.

Frigates are smaller than cruisers and not something between a cruiser to a battleship, and currently the ONLY frigate in the game is a junker one. Though it's more a mix between a transport to gunboat - a mix I think should appear more often.

EDIT: Also about the latest edit you've made SSC, I think it's a bit too smooth like was mentioned before, try to mess around a bit with that.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - SnakeLancerHaven - 05-08-2013

Maybe a Civilian Frigate or MAX a Destroyer like Kusari Destroyer with only 1 Heavy Cruiser Turret. BUT THATS MAXIMUM they should get.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - Gulryz - 07-16-2013

good
like it up it;s graphics are bad but shape is good keep it up

RE: Civilian Cruiser - SnakeLancerHaven - 07-16-2013

I'd say Frigate - Destroyer, maximum. Destroyer would somewhat make sence since its purpose is to take down smaller ships, like Gunboats and destroyers have only 1 Heavy Cruiser Turret (Don't let yourself fool about Disco wiki, for example the Rogue Scylla is a Heavy Cruiser and not a Destroyer). Bcruiser = frigates? Rofl where the hell did you read that? Frigates are smaller than Cruiser, they're actually something between Destroyer and Gunboat, something in the middle, actually a little more near to the Destroyer though. Anyhow a Civilian Frigate, that'd also make sence, something like the Salvager (not necessarily the same, but I'm talking about a transport with gunboat turrets, if the proposal of making Frigate Classes is denied of course) so Freelancer can do every job, trading, missions, collecting bounties. A Frigate would make sence for Freelancers because they also are "freelancing" while trading, so they need a propper ship.

The biggest Civil's should get are personall liners.

To be fair, people are forgetting civillians are the ones who should be doing colonization of new worlds. Liners dont quite fit this role, nor do transports.

If they did get a ship for this, surely it would be a capital ship? Not everyone can buy a Zoner Nephelim....

A lightly armed Battlecruiser with hanger bays for landing shuttles and moderate size cargo bay and armour would surely make sense?

A Civilian Colony Ship (aka lightly armed Destroyer / Cruiser / Battlecruiser)... Why I never thought of this Big Grin. It'd make sence for sure. I totaly agree with this.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - Lonely_Ghost - 07-20-2013

Nah, why send civilian "Cattlebruiser" even very low armored, into newly discovered worlds, when probably, first who going to be there- Navy/Military/Inteligence. They shall check new system for possible resources, tacktical value, and other stuff.

Then, when goverment say: "Me wana dat system" then civilian ships will move there. Ppl will be transfered by liners, cargo and stuff on transport into more or less explored region of space, and ofcrs, there will be at least one military outpost/base/SattleBhip for defence role.

Even in current disco FL. First into the scene goes Inteligence and then Military. So, if Rheinland would like to, I dunno, build space colony in...Omega 5, or anywhere in the deepnes of devil's ass, they wont send five liners with civilians and dozen colosuses, before MND and RM will send info about that system.

So, nice try, but nope.
And, even if such civilian cruiser would be build, and it going to be weaker than military's analog, its just going to be an easy pray for pirates.

RE: Civilian Cruiser - Duvelske - 07-20-2013

It might be me, but WHY does civilians need some cruiser? Isn't the militairy there to defend em in the first place?
