However, if there is no-one RPing the government, dont you should go back to the old ways? You cant have house politics lead by people who dont exist. And I mean if you saw a hogosha ship attacking a GMG ship, youd arrest them right? You would'nt wait for government word, why not just do the same for a hogosha base? If you remove the "because i can" part of the equation, POBs are fine. The issue is having admins or devs or whoever having to bother with checking how okay dropping a base somewhere is. They are kinda busy already. Furthermore, roleplay quality is somewhat subjective. RE: POBs not working out - Echelon - 01-25-2013 Okay New Idea... Make Weapons Platfroms Destroyable ugh I've been insta shot by the hogosha base so many times as THE WEAPONS PLATFORM IS IN THE LANE....some times I feel like people should just Use Their Judgement.. with PoBs. Player Bases are Great I love them.. but they are abused sometimes in ways that hurt the community.. Bases shooting at neutral tagged/ID'd players (I'm looking at you, KSP-come-Hogosha base in NT) is ridiculous. I'm sick to death of logging in after not playing for a week, undocking from somewhere, and getting my arse shot off by some base which popped up like a mushroom. It's just plain antisocial. Weap platforms on the plane around normal populated areas should be set to defense only. Either that, or nerf them down so that it takes more than 1 shot to drop a top level freighter shield. Those 100k off the plane can do what they like. RE: POBs not working out - ryoken - 01-25-2013 It is pointless to complain, as admins are probably laughing their asses off, at players getting ganked by bases outside planets, and lanes. It is pointless to RP, because no matter what the base owners will make up a Bullshat reason to do nothing. It is pointless to assault, as no one wants to sit for days shooting a base. Basically the POBs will continue to pop up in utterly useless spots,Trolling the players, and not a dam thing will be done about it. They are and OORP way for trolls to get their jollys without getting sanctioned for it. Do you really think the base owners put turrets in tradelanes, and outside a planet by accident? NO! they did it to troll, and gank players OORP. They use excuses to justify it, and admins could really care less about the bases. I think their should be a skype channel for all that dislike these bases, and we should all get on it, and from time to time pick a base, log on every BS/Cruiser?bomber we can, and start killing them off 1 by 1. Worst that will happen? some players will get fined. Woopy. And everytime we see a new base anywhere near a JG, or hole, or base/planet we kill it fast. Screw the trolls and their OORP excuses to troll entire server. RE: POBs not working out - Croft - 01-25-2013 As per my idea, I was thinking of temporary siege platforms. Much like EvE's specialist POS destroyers have a siege mode that boosts fire rate and damage at the cost of being unable to escape. That wouldn't work in disco since you retain your ship after death, also it's damned boring to boot. So we use what we've got, a carrier without a purpose and a system of base defenses. Put them together and we get an interesting bit of kit, limit the time of the turrets, make them destructible (of course) and add a commodity requirement (munitions?). If someone DC's, I don't know give them a minute grace period before they self destruct? Just throwin' ideas out there.
