What really needs attention is "Freeport 9" bar over most of zoner bases.

This is something I might be able to do myself, if I had any clue what you were talking about. Be very specific.

Xoria, almost every non-vanilla Zoner base has the exact same NPCs, bribes and info-sales as Freeport 9. Examples are Shasta in Baffin and Freeport 14 in Yukon.
On a similar note, Aland is the exact same as Freeport 1 and all the Bundschuh bases are the same Sad

this is a large undertaking though. a great many bases have copies of others' npcs. as well as improper viewport views on many of them. given that large files must be edited to fix this, it makes it fairly hard to do. not all of the base config is contained under the base's folder where its files are. the npc configuration is in mbases.ini for all bases. and even though base viewports can be given the proper system background in their own files, if there are supposed to be asteroids (or scrap or nebula puffs) then they must be added under universe.ini.

if there are any bases that are fixed, the freeports would be a good place to start though.

and I completely agree there should be more infos. infos are a good sink for money and they're fun. it'd be especially nice for finding jumpholes more quickly and just in general because the size of discovery mod.

This might be slightly offtopic, but how well do you know the graphical engine/DirectX of Freelancer?
The problem is, that VSync is enabled by default on AMD Radeon GPUs and there is no way to turn it off besides 3rd party programs and even then: Minimizing (Alt + Tab) the game enables VSync again. And Vsync causes severe mouse lag, at least in Freelancer..
Maybe you can solve this problem by changing how mouse controls are handled. Some lecture can be read here, from the Freeworlds team: http://www.moddb.com/mods/fwtow/news/freeworlds-tides-of-war-dx9-port-mouse-lag-bloom-color-correction2
Quote:Before getting to the eye candy, let me quickly talk about mouse lag. I guess almost everybody is familiar with the mouse lag problem that occurs in some games. In almost every case, the laggy/delayed input is to blame on VSync. If you turn VSync off, it solves a lot of the mouse lag problems for many games, including Freelancer. I did some research on the topic and found this article on a private blog by "Vorlath". Basically, to fix mouse lag in the DirectX pipeline, you have to make sure that after any present call, the screen has really received the frame you just rendered. This is easily done in Direct3D9 as stated in the article and it was one of the first things I implemented. Thank god, no more VSync-related mouse lag in Freelancer!

That's not a dev matter, but google yourself the way to create an application profile for Freelancer in the Catalyst drivers, with VSync forced to whichever setting you prefer. It's possible to handle that through the driver and override application settings. If you need more info, try putting a topic in the Help forum.

Because that one never-biased RepEx member cannot realize that it is the current Alster what actually looks like a joke at the moment. (sun)

RE: A dev's log. - massdriver - 12-26-2012

there's an IC Bonn station situated near BS Strausberg, New Berlin. As I remember IC became red to rheinland. Quite strange when Bonn station opens fire to you in front of powerful friendly capital ship Smile

or was it fixed?
