TASERRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZ beat both!

Lol, a taser can be stopped with a jacket.

edit: and you only have one shot.

Katana for sheer coolness factor and style points.

Longsword if you're feeling a bit like William Wallace and are looking for a brute killing instrument.

Me, I like the katana, some of them are even rather ornate and pretty.

Plus...the way the blades were made, historically, probably not now, is just...really cool.

Edit: To compliment your post, Crackpunch, a tazer can also be stopped by wearing a "chain-mail" vest underneath whatever clothing you're wearing, it doesn't even have to be chainmail in the sense of old-style armor, but simple a vest made of metal links.

Prefer this. Obvious range disadvantage, but you don't want a Gurkha going for your jugular with that.

Tehehehehe... The best way to stop a heavily armoured knight? Tasers.

OH BECAUSE METAL MEANS HE TAKES 30% MORE DAMAGE!

Or we could science:
If the armour doesn't act like a Faraday cage (I don't think it would, but it might), the thick padding underneath the metal plates would insulate the wearer from taser.

Hah....tazers.

I let my buddy hit me with a tazer when we were like 22....my left shoulder was fricked up for like a month....i have no idea why.

God we were stupid. Big Grin
